Wondering if anyone can tell me some of the activities on the Boardwalk--I know there is a lot, but I have never been there. We are taking a mid-week break from the parks and thought this might be a place to visit. We are staying at CBR and have 2 kids--DD is 8 and DS will be 5. Let me know about what dining options there are, too. Sorry if this isn't the place for the post...

Thanks!

:)

Great post. I have never been and look forward to reading responses

ESPN club for sports bar type food and of course sports. Also a good video arcade .

Lets see, then you will have a couple of outside booths selling hair braid, shoe laces, games, charcacter paintings.

You can rent bikes, have ice cream.

Spooldes, flying fish, brew house and 1 or 2 other resteraunts.

A nice art gallery, a few shops.

Then the best way to finish off a night for adults. jelly roles duelling pianos bar. they open at 7:00 and play till 12:00. great way to get a little groove on and have fun. Not too good for yourg kids.

All in all you must visit the boardwalk. have dinner, see the hotels. a great way to kill a few hours. but do it around sunset. it is pretty boring untill sunset time.

The have entertainment in the evening. The Buskers is a comedy/juggling/etc. act that is a lot of fun. Last October they also had a 4-pc. brass band & a guy who would balance stuff (it's much better than my description). We like Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club for burgers & ice cream-they also have an arcade next door. You can easily walk to Fantasia Gardens mini-golf. You can see Illuminations from several spots along the Boardwalk, our favorite being the bridge between Yacht Club & Boardwalk.

You can also rent Surrey bikes -- we did this and had a great time peddling around Boardwalk, YC and BC. Great fun!

Dont forget CARLO-the Magician. He eats fire,a large sword down his throat and many other exciting tricks. Kids love him. He is there in the evenings when it is the best time to go. GO CARLO,GO CARLO. Once you see him you will know why I said it.:D :D :D

gm, I laughed when I read your post "Go Carlo, Go Carlo" is now a standard saying in our family along with "Children, never, never play with fire at home.... always go to a neighbors". HA ha, He was great! Also the traveling medicine man show "Ejapana" is very entertaining and involves the kids in his show. We also got a kick out of the rope trick lady and the card shark.

kaye, the BW entertainment is free and timed such that as one finishes another comes out to start. Often there was entertainers on both ends of the BW. We were there in early Feb. when it was cold at night and there was still alot going on. And the one night it drizzled, some of the entertainers went into the BWI lobby!

Just a reminder that the activity on the BW tends to take place more in the evening than during the day. Entertainers etc. are not there during most of the day. Just like on the real Jersey Shore boardwalks.....daytime is for the beach (or the parks at WDW), evening for the Boardwalk.

Entertainment at BW is in the evening, there really isnt too much activity during the day. Flying Fish & ESPN are good. You might want to consider taking a walk to YC/BC for dinner the restaurants are very good. Beaches & Cream the best WDW burgers and sundaes. Yachtsmans Steakhouse, wonderful service in a nice quiet restaurant, very good steaks. Cape May Cafe fun seafood buffet.

Hey,

We were planning on arriving about 12:00 and would like to eat at Beaches and Cream. It would be nice to see some of the evening entertainment but I am afraid that B&C would be too crowded by that time. Does B&C give numbers? What time does Carlo come out? Any suggestions???

Restaurants:
ESPN-sports bar/restaurant-good casual place with TVs everywhere-very loud-good pub type food(burgers,sandwiches etc)-excellent chicken wings!
Spoodles-Mediterranean style food(tapas,sort of Italian-y)-kind of different, but good.Also has a pizza take-out window.
Boardwalk Bakery-excellent bakery items.Take outNice to go for breakfast, and sit outside on the little tables scattered nearby to eat.
Flying Fish-excellent high end seafood restaurant
Seashore Sweets-candy shop...need I say more?
Big River Grill-microbrewery with pub style food-decent place-also has outside seating.
Yachtsmen Steakhouse(in the Yacht Club)-excellent steakhouse-expensive but worth it.
Crews Cup Lounge(in the Yacht Club)-nice casual lounge-good to go when waiting for a seat at the Yachtsmen
Marthas Vineyard(in the Beach Club)-quiet out of the way lounge-not always open due to its location not near anything
Cape May Cafe(in the BeachClub)-serves a character breakfast buffet, and also a dinner buffet(not character)specializing in mainly seafood, but they do have a children's section with the usual kids' selections.Good food.
Riptide Lounge(in the Beach Club)-next to the Cape May Cafe
Beaches and Cream(in the Beach Club)-cute soda shop serving ice cream, fountain drinks, and light sandwiches/burgers.Near the pool.

As far as entertainment, there are always diffferent things going on...jugglers, sword swallowers etc. There are the usual boardwalk type games(which are an extra charge, not included on any ticket), face painting. You can rent a bicycle for 2 or 4/5(if you have a small kid they can sit in the basket)and go all the way around the BW. More adult entertainment included Jellyrolls, a dueling piano bar. There's Atlantic Dance, which is a dance club. The BW has a children's babysitting service(the name of which escapes me at the moment)so if the adults wanted to go to the more adult entertainment, the kids would also be cared for.

Beaches and Cream is popular virtually day long. They do not give out numbers, just have to wait in line. We have stayed at the BW and found that on days with inclimate weather the entertainers were not out and some of the arcade games did not open.

The problem with Beaches and Cream is it's too small. There are only a few places to sit and I never saw an empty table the whole time we were there. You could have lunch at Epcot, it's a short stroll to the countries where the food is great, then maybe walk back to Boardwalk to check it out, rent a surrey (alot of fun) and then get a sundae at Beaches and Cream and sit at an outside table. I agree though the Boardwalk is fun at night. Check out the pool at the Boardwalk hotel - it is set up like a roller coaster and you come out the clown's mouth. It's just neat to see...

On some nights, just outside the Atlantic Dance Club, there may be a DJ on the boardwalk. Last March, he held hoola hoop contests for the children to the beat of some rock numbers. Our grandchild, just 1 1/2 years old at the time, jumped up and down in his stroller and kept reaching out to the children playing. We eventually rolled him onto the "dance floor area" so he could jump up and down while the contest went on. All the children had a ball, from babies to teens. It was a great atmosphere for families.
