boarding process for concierge rooms?

is embarkation any different for concierge rooms?...
is there a separate check-in line at port canaveral?
is there a separate boarding line to get on the ship?

Don't know from personal experience, but having asked this before I was told:

1. There is a separate check-in line.

2. There is a separate line to board.

3. There is not a separate waiting area.

Well, since I'm getting married the morning of my cruise, I'm sure not planning on rushing to the terminal to wait in line!

Having just returned from the 5/18 cruise and having concierge service, this is what we did when we arrived at Port Canaveral:

We did not see or go to a separate check-in line. We just went to the shortest line. It took us less than 10 minutes to check in. We were welcomed back (this was our 2nd cruise with Disney) and the CM told us that we because we were concierge we had "priority" boarding and to go up to a separate area by the snack bar to wait with the other concierge guests and disabled passengers. We were among the first to board. HTH.

We just returned from 6/1 Magic and had a cat. 3 suite. This was our 2nd cruise with Disney with concierge. Like the post above definately go to the shortest line to check in (the returning cruisers line is usually one of the longest) and you will receive a letter with directions to stand to the right of the boarding area (just cross thru the line waiting to board) you will be among the 1st to board along with any handicap passengers. No need to hurry to the port!!!! Also included in the letter will be the time and place for making ALL ressies (except for Flounders) the time listed was 1:30 - 3:00 (I'm pretty sure) so there is really no rush, we have always received every request, even ate at Palos 3 nights this past cruise and brunch!!!!! It was great.

knowing this i'm reevaluating when we'll leave for port canaveral...
i'm the kind of person who HATES tension.....so, for example i get to the airport way earlier than they tell us to.....i just can't stand the worry of getting stuck in traffic or something...
at the same time i HATE standing in line...with a passion...(which leads to the the obvious question....how in heavens name do i survive WDW every summer for 3 weeks??!???!???!??)...

anyway....
i'll have to think about what you've said......originally i was planning on leaving WDW at 9:30....which i suppose would get us there at 11.....but maybe i really only need to be there by 12....
i don't know...
well....
knowing me, we'll leave at 9:30 and hang around for the hour/hour and half at the port....old habits die hard...concierge or no concierge.....

Disneyholic, I understand, I'm the same way, always early when I travel.

If you leave at 9:30 you'll be at the port by 10:30, and that is very early. If you don't mind waiting around the terminal for nearly two hours before you board, arrive then, but I'd shoot for an arrival around 11:00 - 11:30.

Thanks MJ. We're getting married around 9 or 9:30 right in Port Canaveral. We're getting in Thursday. Get married, eat cake, hop on ship!

With 9 kids, we are learning that staying in constant motion is really the safest bet anyway!

I can totally relate to the overplanning...
We always leave as early as possible, whether it be to the port airport, or whatever. I'd rather wait around somewhere knowing that I have arrived with plenty of time to spare than run into some delay and stress out over that. Actually, my paranoia has helped us a couple of times with Midway airport parking traumas. One good thing about waiting in the terminal is that you will often wind up chatting with the others around you. Wear your lime green ribbon and you may even find some fellow DISers. We are often recognized because of my website so we have had some very pleasant chats there...it really makes the time go by fast. The sense of anticipation is fun, and they make a big to-do of kicking off the boarding with an official "countdown"...really neat!

i love those corny countdown type things....
they have one at blizzard beach and we all love it....silly i suppose but we always get there early so we can be there for it...
as for getting to airports early...
we use a special service here that takes us to the airport and clears us through security and passport control.....
instead of having to be at the airport 3 hours in advance, we can get there a half hour before boarding....
but i always make them pick me up at least an hour earlier than they want to pick us up.....i tell them that i would much rather hang around the airport (and window shop the duty free) than worry on the drive there....
i really have to argue with them....they're so used to their customers wanting to get to the airport at the very last second.....not me....uh uh...never...

Yup...nine kids...5 girls and 4 boys...and one little grandson turning two this Saturday!

Only five of the kids will be able to join us on the cruise...our 5 youngest ranging from 11 to 21!

Crazy? Well, let's just say that anyone who knows us isn't surprised that we're bringing our crew with us on the honeymoon!

In reading this post, all I can picture is the pilot episode of the Brady Bunch, where Mike and Carol return home to get the whole crew, including Alice, the dig, and the cat!!
I know your brood is a little older, but it should still be some trip! A Disney cruise is the best way I can imagine to kick off your marriage, and I know that Shirley make sure that things are perfect...she is such a sweetie! She's just as nice in person as you would imagine from her posts on the message boards.

Yup...that's us! Did I mention the two 60 lb. standard poodles, also?? LOL

This new family we are creating is an incredible blessing! And what better Magic to start it all with than a sprinkle of Pixie Dust!

Shirley is an Angel! I cannot wait to meet her and see her beautiful store. And, of course, meet her sweet Normy!

and yes, i'm getting that brady bunch picture in my head too...
or that movie, "Yours Mine and OUrs"....
but i totally understand taking the kids on your honeymoon....
my husband and i have NEVER gone anywhere without the kids...
well....he's gone on a handful of business trips alone, and last year i went home for a month (!!) to take care of my mom when she had to have surgery....but he and i have never gone on vacation without them....i can't imagine doing that....
there's nowhere i'd rather be than with my kids.....and strangely enough, my kids seem to feel the same way....
my daughter even cancelled a trip with her friends this summer so that she could come on the big summer vacation trip with us (her friends think she's nuts...they can't understand why would she want to hang around with her family....)....

i'm sure having 9 kids is a lot of fun (besides being a ton of work).....

Shirley is the owner of a gift shop in Port Canaveral named The Perfect Gift. She will deliver very personalized baskets and gifts to the ship! I have heard NOTHING but wonderful things about her work. And she is truly a lovely person!

I can't travel without my brood either. We'd just worry too much, and where would the relaxation and fun be in that??

There's nothing strange about it....your kids want to be with you because you want to be with them. Mine are the same way, and their friends think they're crazy, too! LOL My son who will just be coming home from a six month deployment is even coming on the cruise with us!!

I LOVE having a big family!! And all our kids love to tell people now that they have 8 siblings!

funny you should say that about worrying about your brood...
my daughter was just asking me today if i thought that my husband and i are so overprotective of her and her brother because we only have two kids...
i laughed and said it wouldn't matter if we had a dozen.....we'd be that way regardless....

i'll go check out the site Barb...i was thinking i'd like to surprise the family with a gift of some kind....
