Board Games for Teens?

Not a typical board game, this is a "tile" style game. It is never the same game twice. You can also add on expansion sets to make a whole new game experience.

Great for mixed age groups as well, we play it with 10 year old, 13 year old, and a 21 year old.

If you have never played this style of board game you are in for a treat. Don't be put off by what seems like complex instructions, it is very easy to play, you just need to jump in.

Pictureka! Website

I'll also second (or third) Sequence, Blokus and Quiddler.

DH and I never got Apples to Apples either. :confused3

Another vote for Phase 10. It's a card game but a lot of fun.

My DH and I discovered Sequence when we were dating. We have had a lot of fun with it over the years. There are also some other games by this maker (Sequence dice and at least one other) that are also fun. These are very good games if just two want to play.

I agree with Phase 10 and Sequence. Great games! I suggest Jenga and plain old dominoes. They are very easy to learn and a lot of fun to play. Especially, if you get a lot of people to play.

We play a lot of games. Apples to Apples is good and it's best with a group of people.

Other games we like are Parcheesi, Sorry, Uno, Skip-Bo, Blokus, Pit, Sequence, Scene It (we have the Disney version, but there are a lot of other versions), Life (we like the PoC version), Scattagories, Pictionary, and Yahtzee. Settlers of Catan is a game we're still learning but enjoy.

Dd can happily play Monopoly for hours (and I mean hours) on end, but we rarely have the time for a full game. I keep hoping that one of her friends will get into Monopoly as much as she's into it, but that hasn't happened yet. There are so many fun versions of Monopoly that you can buy.

The kids have played Catch Phrase, but I haven't. They like that game.

Check out the Cranium Games. Some of those are fun, too.

I've been thinking about getting Ticket to Ride. That looks like a good game!

I just played part of a sample game, and it was fun!! :thumbsup2 I wonder if there will be a good Black Friday price on this game?

This is another game I've also been thinking about getting.

We love Apples to Apples. It really is fun.

What exactly is "Apples to Apples "stategy, card, trivia)? Is it a new game?

We LOVE family board games. DH grew up without a TV in their home (he was age 5 when they pitched it and the got one back when he was like 21 and his Grandma died... it was her TV) so their family played games constantly.

We all enjoy Clue (Simpson's Clue is really cute) and have several different versions Monopoly. DS also likes Sorry, UpWords, Boggle, UNO, and plain old playing cards (Rum).

Another vote for Sequence. A good strategy game for middle school and up. The teens in my YF group also had a great time playing Pictionary at our last meeting. Not the newest thing to come around the block, but still a lot of fun.

Another vote for Apples to Apples. You do have to have a group though. 3 or 4 people, it's not as fun. Get a group of 6-8 (we've done it up to 12 or so, though that gets long) and it's alot of fun. We play it at various church functions and all ages kids on up to the older folks love to play it. I recently got them the Bible version (to justify playing it in Sunday school) and my middle schoolers were all THRILLED. (for those not familiar with that age group, thrilled is not what they often are in Sunday school. :))

The various SceneIts, matched to interests are also a hit.

My kids like playing Settlers of Catan , Ticket to Ride, Blokus and Royal Rummy, The Settlers of Catan has a card game for 2 players. We don't have the plastic sheet for Royal Rummy so use 3 decks of cards to make the different hands. You can look it up on-line to see how to play and set it up. It requires more than 2 people though. Another 2 player card game is Lost Cities and 2-4 person is Castlekeep.

Well, it's not for everyone, but my friends and I are obsessed with Arkham Horror.

It's a very intense game and played cooperativelty. If you ever try it be prepared to spend a good 20 minutes setting it up, 6 hours of play time, and you're still pretty likely to lose at the end. Funnily enough, we played it while waiting for trick-or-treaters this last Friday. We spent a good 30 minutes setting up the main game board, the two expansion game boards, and mixing in the two other expansion decks into the main set of cards. Then we got a horribly unlucky combination of cards that had us losing the game within the first hour of play. Kind of sad, really.

Did I mention it's an obsession?

Battle of the Sexes IQ.......many a game night at our house...DD's friends would play board games here all the time senior year before she went off to college.
some others they payed are:
Loaded Questions
Would You Rather
Fact or Crap
Poker also became fairly popular
and
You Might Be a Redneck if....( seriously,it is a board game)

they also played Apples ot Apples and Scene it... and 20 questions hand held electronic game..that is great for car rides, long lines...any age can play it!

My husband and I love to play the game Blink. Its a card game that I would describe as Speed (the card game not the drug) meets Uno. It literally takes 2 minutes or less to play a whole game and it can get very intense. The game is designed for two people, but with extra decks or creative rules, we've made it work for many more. And at about $5 a deck, it makes a great stocking stuffer.

I also love Apples to Apples, Cranium, Catch Phrase and Taboo

We like Blink, too. I just bought a couple of Blink games for the kids' Christmas gift exchange for their youth group. It's perfect as it fits the $5.00 spending limit and it's an OK gift for either a boy or girl.

My 11 year old DNephew is the same way. He would rather play a game of Monopoly than play video games. And he loves video games.
