Board games for adults

I have lots of board games, but it's only us two, so they don't get used much. Wits and Wagers is fun.

DH and I tend to prefer computer games, but even those have limitations. The old ones we bought in the 90s allowed for network play on our home network. The new ones don't seem to do that...why? Wireless home networks are much more common these days. We just got the Hoyle Casino 2010 and we can't network to go head-to-head in tournaments or other poker games from our respective computers.

For two (or more) we like Boggle, Banagrams, Yahtzee, Carcassonne, or Scrabble.

Card Games! :thumbsup2Learn how to play Hearts, Spades, Euchre, & Canasta.

Card games can really fill in the gaps and you develop critical thinking and math skills. I can't count all the cards but my sister does. She plays more than me.

We play board games, pool, and video games as well. We are gamers.

Last night I played 9 ball (Pool), Super Mario on the Wii, Left for Dead on the XBOX360 and Poker for money.

:rotfl: Some fairly new games that we really enjoy are: Quiddler, Set, and Bananagrams. These are all 3 fun for two people, and are available online or at Barnes an Noble.
Old standbys we still play are Cribbage, Rummy Cube,Canasta and Sequence
:thumbsup2
Love bananagrams and although it is a card game, we also play a lot of cribbage too.

Sometimes, if we don't feel like pulling a gameboard out, we will set up a private table and play games together (against each other) on Pogo.

Best game ever is Stratego. We also enjoyed Scrabble, Canasta and Hearts.

Our favorites:

1) Blokus
2) Phase 10 Dice
3) Scattergories (more fun w/ 3 or more people)
4) Sequence

If you ever get together with other people Settlers of Catan is great. It's a bit of a strategy game but is not as indepth as Risk or Diplomacy. Our whole family plays it and we have bought DD11 all the add ons.

Another vote for Dominos..my parents got me hooked. I have to bug DH to play, but I started my DD8 playing as well.

Scrabble, Scattegories,& Trivial Pursuit! We used to love Balderdash, but I forget what it is.

Ohh we love Balderdash! You need a group to play it though. To (try) and make it short, the players have to guess what the accurate description of things such as films, laws, or who people are. The players think of bogus answers that sound legit so that the other players will think it is in fact the correct answer. If the other players guess yours as the correct answer to the name of a film or whatever, than they get the points. If that makes sense, lol! It is fun though with a group, however it can take a while depending on how many people are playing. :)

We also love scene it!

DH and I love playing board games, and we're always hunting around for a game that can be played with just 2 people. Recently I purchased The Game of Life Twists and Turns edition. It is the most fun and challenging board game we've found that works really well for just 2 people playing.

I had a hard time finding the Twists and Turns edition in local stores. (Including Toy's R Us.) So I ended up purchasing it from Ebay.

Enjoy!

We're total board game nerds. A couple of our favorites for two:

Ticket to Ride: I LOVE this game, it is SO much fun.

Carcassonne: We just got this for Christmas and played a few times. I'm finally getting the strategy, and it's pretty fun.

If you have more than two, another good one is Settlers of Catan.

try "run for your life candyman"// an adult version of candyland where your gingerbread man looses pieces of him while trying to escape !
make the game more interesting with getting real cookies & breaking off limbs as you play..

also
Pandemic is supposed to be great ( havent found time to play yet)

card games :
bridge troll ( you are a troll & either eat yoour bridge crossers or turn them in for tolls)

bunny bunny moose moose.....

there are some very interesting games out there.

i love canasta and scatergories (sp?)

i could play both of them all day long.

Let me tell you. We went to a friend's house last night to visit and we played a game called "What's Yours Like?" O...M...G... was that hilirious!!! I don't see it really working with 2 people (we had 5). But if anyone needs a game for a group....YOU NEED TO GET THIS ONE!!!!!!! For Christmas I bought 2 board games & 2 Wii games and bundled them up in one gift bag and called it "Family Game Night". For the board games I bought Apples to Apples (haven't played it yet but have heard from many people that it's fun) and The Game of Things. We played this last weekend and it was fun, but we played it with only 4 people and it would be better with a bigger group in my opinion (basically, you have to guess who said what type of thing, but you can't guess your own OR the person who read the description) so that only left 2 other people who you had to guess for...so it was easy by process of elimination. But if you had more people, it would be a great game.

Originally I was going to buy that "what's yours like" but instead bought "the game of things" Now, I'm wishing I had bought it. I'll probably end up picking it up when I go to Walmart tomorrow. Absolutely loved that game!!!
