Board games for a 3 year old?

There's a Dr. Suess game that can be played with colors or for older kids, with numbers. It's awesome! I think it's the Cat in the Hat game?

Candyland and maybe Chutes and Ladders if you help them a bit with counting. But Candyland is just matching colors - I know my DD was playing at 3.

Candy Land or Shutes and Ladders:banana: They are older than the hills but so much fun for that age group:)

My daughter got Candyland the The Very Hungry Caterpillar game for Christmas last year. She was 3.75 at the time.

Lucky ducks was one of the first ones we bought for our then 3 year old. He also liked Candy Land, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and Disney Memory.

My DD loves Candyland, Cranium Caribou, Lucky Ducks and Candyland Castle. The Cranium Caribou game has two levels, so the game can change as the kids get older. I really like that one a lot. :thumbsup2

Hi Ho CherryO was our favorite at that time. It's a counting game and easy to play.

Don't break the ice
DOra bingo
mousetrap ( they loved to put it together and trap dad)
perfection
Guess who

My DS loves his Diego domino set, he got them when he turned 3. Otherwise most board games are a bit over his head. He likes the idea of playing but doesn't really get it yet.

The cootie bug game and Don't Spill the Beans. My kids had a game called SPLAT! I don't know if it's even around anymore. You make a little bug out of play doh with a mold that comes with the game, and then there are playing pieces that are big boots. If your piece gets landed on by another player...splat. They loved it.

Candyland and Cootie! Do they still make Cootie? My dd used to love that game. :goodvibes

I always preferred short games, that you way could play a couple games in not much time. That eliminates Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land for me. As a busy parent, I rarely had time to play such long games.

Give me a few rounds of Hi Ho Cherry Oh and I was good to go. Also, if your three year old can count to 10 and recognize numbers to ten, Skip-Bo is another good one- it can be as long or as short of a game as you want it to be.

Uncle Wiggly was my FAVORITE growing up, and my girls loved it too.

Hi-Ho Cherry-O
Don't Break the Ice
Don't Spill the Beans
Dominos
Pick-up Sticks

Along the same line, don't forget simple puzzles for this age group.

Zingo, my kids love it!

I second the Zingo recommendation. It's a new version of bingo -- the cards have both pictures and words on them, and it's very easy for kids of all ages to play. The cards only have 9 squares on them so the games go fast. It's a big hit in our household.

Barnyard Bingo!

This was both of my kids first "board" game...easier than Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders.
