I'm coming to London in the summer and BMI looks about the most reasonable price wise to fly. I've not heard of them before, so I was wondering if you fine folks might have any advice. My second and third choices (price wise) are Air Canada and British Airways. BMI is about $150 Cdn cheaper. Is it worth the savings? I appreciate your help! Thanks!

We flew with them from Manchester to Chicago and back in October, pretty good clean planes, reasonable food and good choice of channels with their seat back entertainment. If they are cheaper than other than even better.

Thanks for the info ... I will keep them in mind ... I'm still hoping costs will drop, but will need to book soon!

BMI are an excellent airline. I have flown them a number of times...the last time to Toronto in summer 2005. You'll find that on the Canadian route that your carrier will actually be Air Canada. BMI "own" that route and "hire" it out to Air Canada (or whatever the airline technical speak is). This is why you'll find it cheaper to book with BMI than Air Canada - even though it's exactly the same aeroplane and service.

I've never flown the Canada route, so can't speak for the aeroplane, but BMI are really good. If it's cheaper, I would definitely go for it!

BMI are an evolution of the old British Midland Airlines. They have a good enough reputation.

Thanks everyone for the info ... I feel better booking them now, however, I may still go the Air Canada route for the frequent flyer points. As the difference is only $100, the 2500 points may make up for it. I won't be booking for another 2 weeks, so I'll keep on watching the fares. Thanks all for your help!

As BMI are a partner airline (Star Alliance) to Air Canada, and if you are flying from Toronto Pearson you would actually be flying on an Air Canada aeroplane, so I think you can use the air-miles. Although I would check that to confirm though.
