well it doesn't exactly sound to me like rustyscupper is imposing himself on other solo diners. I'm sure it's perfectly understandable that sometimes people dine alone because they want to, and they can easily decline graciously through the host/ess when asked. I think it's nice to be asked though, so on the off chance someone does feel like talking to a stranger, they are given the chance to do so. I don't think you should worry about "hiding" the fact that you are solo in the ADR system. I doubt they are revealing the names, etc, I assume they may just say, yes, we have 2 other solo dining ADRs around that same time frame, or something similarly vague. Once you arrive, they will surely know you are solo, so you may still get asked by a host/ess if you want company, regardless of how you made your ADR. Really, how hard is it to say "no thank you"?
