Blue's Road Trip - Part II ~ New 5/6: It Pays To Have Connections!!

Finally caught up.
I think you've been back a couple of months,
sorry.
I think Epcot has a pretty lame opening too.
Hardly anyone can see anything, and most just
want to make a mad dash to Soarin or Test Track.
We should have been like you and went to Character Connections.
That is the slowest line in Epcot.

I posted this on my TR, but I don't know if you will see it,
Do you have a link to your pre-trip report?
When I scroll over your last box, I don't get anything.

Well you should know me by now ...... pretty easy to keep up with my TR :rolleyes1

That's true, we hardly had no wait at all. It was pretty much walk through with the characters.

I haven't started my 2008 TR or my 2009 PTR yet. I'd like to finish this one first and it shouldn't be much longer. :wizard:

We arrived back at POR around 3:45 and I took a little nappy before dinner while DH & the girls watched some TV. That's one thing I need each afternoon after being in the park all morning. The only time I miss out on my nap is when we go to AK because we're able to get through it by closing time.

My gang woke me up at 5:30 because they said they were starving which is hardly the case at all because if you're familiar with free dining, you're never hungry. There's always plenty of food and most of the time we can't even finish dessert.

I think they were just getting restless and wanted to go do something ... so off we went to the food court. DH, JoJo & I each chose the pasta but Goofy wanted the burger meal.

Grumpy looks a tiny bit grumpy in this next picture :confused3

After dinner we went into the store and I bought myself a new lanyard. I had been using a Harry Potter one up until then.

We then sat out on the deck by the water and admired the view.

The location of our building - OH so far away from everything :guilty:

A short time later we headed back to our room and I figured it would be a good time to tidy it up a bit. It was starting to look like a pig pen and I wanted to get a few things packed up ahead of time so it wouldn't be a mad rush on the last day. What do you think the others were doing while I cleaned? The same thing they do at home....watched TV and kept telling me I was blocking their view :sad2:

Around 9:00 p.m. we decided to head to the pool for a nice evening swim. The water temp was perfect and it was a great way to cool off before heading to bed. DH and I tried to hide on the girls in the pool around the island thingy but they kept finding us. They were stuck on us like glue.

While walking back down the winding pathway to our room, Goofy jumped aside and let out a scream which had a chain reaction effect! :scared1:

JoJo and I both yelled too, having no idea what had frightened her. A racoon had jumped out of one of the garbage cans. We watched him open the door and then come out with some pizza!!!!

It all happened so quickly that we didn't think fast enough to snap off a picture of the little rascal.

The four of us hit the sack a little earlier than usual as we had a big day planned ahead of us and a special visit with a character :wizard:

Up next: Testing The Card Readers :sad2:

Tell her not to come to Queen's if that stuff scares her. The squirrels and raccoons here are nuts! Students in the "ghetto" have had their window screens chewed through by them and will come home to find their houses trashed from these animals ransacking the place for food.

They also love to hang out in the garbage cans. Quite often you will push the lid open to throw something away and a squirrel will jump out. :scared:

Awwwwwwwww, cheeky little pizza stealer!! How awesome!!

Your puppy and dog are sooooo cute!! :cloud9:

Yahooty!! :yay:

Love the nighttime shots you got. :thumbsup2 I wonder if that bunny was the same one we saw. :rolleyes1

I know exactly what you mean by the chain reaction scream. :rotfl:

Guess the raccoon was on a pizza run, eh?? Maybe he and his friends were having a pizza party. popcorn::

Nothing like a surprise guest before bed. LOL.

Especially a cute one! :)

They aren't afraid of racoons, it was being caught off guard!

I can't believe they'll chew through the window screens - that would be a little scary I think

Wouldn't you think, that they would keep the horse on property in a barn?
I watched one morning the trailer that brought the horse in. I saw it again over at the Wilderness Campground, a trailer bringing the horses in. That one really baffled me, since they have the riding stable over there.

wdw-h196.jpg
I never saw this little area, is this where the river starts? or is it sort of like a "stink pond".

That was funny about the racoon, that is why I hate camping in a tent.
They sniff around your campsite all nite.

Too funny about the chain reaction to the racoon...I can see my girls doing the same thing! :rotfl:

Did the little fella look like this?

We had a simlar incident with a frog on our last trip to POR. One morning we were all walking to the car and a frog leaped out of nowhere and attached to my wife's leg. I thought it was hysterical. She did not laugh.

Our son spent the rest of the trip trying to find frogs to scare her with.

We then sat out on the deck by the water and admired the view.

I think these are some of the best times at WDW... the times you just sit around, relaxing with your family, just drinking it all in!!

I remember taking this horse-drawn carriage ride when we stayed at POFQ in 2005... it was so much fun to clip-clop down the road and tour the sister resorts! :cloud9:

Racoon Encounter: You screamed like girls, didn't you?? :rotfl:

That would certainly make more sense and the horse wouldn't be standing out in the hot sun all day.

No that is just a little manmade pond thingy way in the back 40 which was where we were staying

After our first trip that was something we took time to do and this year will be almost half & half. :wizard:

At least the little fellow did not bother you guys...it was the Disney Pizza he was after!!!

He actually made it through the whole day today without any accidents in the house. Course we were outside for most of it but I'm still pleased about that!!! :)

He ran off with the pizza .... probably having a lil' party with his buddies somewhere :cheer2:

Next chapter is coming up shortly!

Surprisingly, after having gone to bed early the night before, DH & I didn't wake up until 8:00! We headed to the food court and picked up tea, coffee, juice and danishes and then sat outside to soak up some early morning sun while sipping our beverages.

When we got back to our room we woke the girls up and let them eat their breakfast while we went ahead and took our shower.

Before our trip I purchased four POTC shirts from the Disney Store and today was the day I wanted everyone to sport them as we had a special character visit planned with Ariel. Funny thing was the others were not as enthusiastic about them as I was. The conversation went something like this:

DH: Do I have to wear the same shirt as you three?

Me: Yes! Don't be so silly, lots of families do that...you've seen them!

DH: [shakes his head at me]

Goofy: Mom, I don't want to wear that shirt - it's going to be too hot!

Me: Aw c'mon...it'll be fun!

JoJo: I agree with Goofy, I'd rather wear them when we go to the park at night!

Me: Hey! I thought it would be a neat thing to do so stop complaining and just wear them okay?

[Grunts, groans and sighs from all three]

I won! In the end they put on the special shirts I purchased especially for this day :)

You shall hear more about those T-shirts later on :rolleyes1

wdw-h205.jpg

We arrived at the Magic Kingdom around 11:00 and as we were getting ready to go through the check point, DH & the girls were discussing the card readers and wondering if they really worked. I heard one of them say something about trying to test it out

Hooboy....If you're familiar with my TR's and past experiences with those three you'll understand why I decided to jump ahead of them and get through before they started their shenanigans. I didn't want to have any part of what they had planned. :scared:

I went through with no problems, walked up ahead, turned around and got out my camera. Figured I might get a good shot of them embarrassing themselves.

Goofy went through first and of course her card didn't work. She turned to JoJo and said innocently, "Oh...I must have your card". As if the CM didn't know what they were up to :sad2:

Then when it was Grumpy's turn he used a different finger and the CM said to him, "Are you trying to trick the machines too?"

At that point I burst out laughing and had to give credit to the CM for being such a fun sport about it!

That is wonderful that you and your husband shower together while on vacation. Disney thanks you for conserving water. Did you share a towell too?

The t-shirts look great Heidi (even though I wouldn't want to wear a black shirt on a hot day either ;) )!

Too funny about them trying to trick the machine. :rotfl: We've done that many times, but never intentionally!
