We're both from NJ and were there earlier in July and brought home 6 pints of NJ cultivated blueberries. They were very sweet, they are what we are used to eating.

I went to Kroger here in Ohio and all they had for sale are Michigan cultivated blueberries, and we both think that they are tart, a bit sour.

Do you think this is true, or are we imagining it?

It really depends on what kind of blueberry you tasted. We go blueberry picking at this little place in Otter Lake, MI where there are about 100 different varieties of blueberries grown. They all come "in" at different times, so depending on what week you go to pick them, you will be sent to a different section each time. My dad just went this past week and said that he was sent to a section that had the biggest berries he had ever seen (and he worked at that place as a kid 55 years ago) and he said they were really sweet. I don't plan on getting up there for another couple of weeks, so I can be sure that I won't be picking the same area he did this past week. Regardless, I'm sure that blueberries are blueberries and it simply depends on what "kind" of blueberry you eat that determines the taste.

I don't know which ones are sweeter but ours are coming now and they are soooo sweet :thumbsup2
Maybe the MI berries were picked too soon :confused3
