Blue Sky Rumor: Ride coming to UK Pavilion?

Have you been on it? It's a clunky AA boat ride.

See this is the problem...the crowds Too large for an attraction list that is too small...where else would you expect them to go?

Especially in Epcot.

That's a disgustingly low bar for Disney..."the line is long due to lack of options so we DONE good!!"
Yes I have been on it. The capacity is no different than what was there before. I didn't say it wasn't well done. I think success as how popular it is. In the eyes of most Mine Train and Frozen are successes however they are not major E-ticket attractions in terms of how well they are done. Just because it's "just a boat ride" doesn't mean it isn't successful.

Also the quene is literally one of the best ones they've produced in a long time.

How does that fit the definition of "culturally relevant"?

Alice in Wonderland (originally Alice's Adventures in Wonderland) was written by an English author and is set in Victorian England (at the beginning at least). I think that fits in perfectly with the UK pavilion. You start in actual England (the UK pavilion) and you go down the rabbit hole (into the ride). At the end of it, there can even be a statue of the author and some info about his life. That makes alot of sense too me.

They could also do this with Beauty and Beast, Pinocchio, and Snow White. All of those have a history in their respective cultures that predates Disney's involvement.

I've been to those countries and haven't once been reminded of a Disney cartoon...just saying.

Did once see a caterpillar smoking on a neon mushroom in Amsterdam though...

If you put ip rides all over the world showcase to satisfy brats of all ages, you kill the concept of the world showcase.

The good news is it can't get any worse...pumping a 100% made up "place" in Norway...with singing snowmen.

Is Frozen culturally relevant? How about Three Caballeros?

They're not and if you recall...those things were both HIGHLY criticized.

You can't bully your way to being "correct" as they did in those situations.

3 caballeros is the absolute farthest they should go...at least they still have actual Mexicans.

I actually agree with this point. I think having "culturally relevant" IPs that predate Disney and are part of a country's folklore involved in the pavilions is a great way to 'save' the WS. Otherwise they'll all end up like Norway, which is now much more of a Frozen pavilion than a Norway one.

Also, I have to say, I'm 27 (thus an adult) and I find the WS to be pretty boring, as far as Disney lands go. Parts of it are interesting, but other parts can be pretty barren.

Honest question: If you don't plan on eating there, what's there to do in the UK, Japan, Italy and Germany? Walk around a gift shop? I need more than that, especially if I'm paying to get in. I think most people do.

One thing that's important to remember is that the Frozen ride being "HIGHLY criticized" is meaningless if it's constantly packed with paying guests.

Personally, I wish Maelstrom was still there, but FEA has been a massive success by virtually any measure. That's just a fact.

The days of cultural revelance in World Showcase rides are long gone.

It's not meaningless. Its also fact that frozen has nothing to do with the actual country of Norway.

In UK I really like British Invasion. I used to like seeing Pooh and Tigger.

In Japan I love whatever is in the museum and just watching Pick a Pearl.

Italy and a Germany....not much there.

Italy had the flag wavers and Germany has the trains (a favorite of mine). I would say food is the biggest draw in Italy and Germany.

Ok...not to tangent...

But as an Epcot purist, I fully concede that it was built for a different era.

Like carbon emissions...it is an indisputable reality.

But...but...that doesn't mean it has to be magic kingdom part 11.

The reality is this regime is beyond LAZY. As in mentally lazy.

Epcot needs a new focus but this is embarassing.

It's possible, it requires 3 things:
1. Money
2. Thought
3. Diligence

Disney was known for 2 of the 3...
...now it has a ton of 1 and has given up on the other 2

Are there glass blowers or candlemakers in Germany? Or am I just remembering the old days in the German section of our local six flags when it was still a mom and pop park? I know for a fact that park also had Swiss alp horns, yodelers, and dancers that were street entertainment.

How is it I can appreciate the detail of Epcot...all of it...and think that mine train is a mildly amusing kiddie coaster that should be a walk on by now?

I must be nuts:banana:

I think they are but I don't stop in Germany a lot. I know there was glass blowers somewhere in WS. Germany has the horns and band inside their restaurant Biergarten which is pretty good IMO.
