We've got reservations for Blue Man Group while staying at Hard Rock Hotel but don't know much about the show. Any Comments appreciated. Also where is the BMG theatre?

Thanks:)

I have not been myself but I hear it gets mixed reviews. The BMG theatre is in Citywalk.

We saw the late BMG show on Christmas night. The theatre is located to the right of Universal Studios and is easy to find right next door to Hard Rock Cafe.

I booked our tickets on line via their website, printed off the confirmation email and collected the actual tickets when we visited Universal studios earlier in the holiday.

It is a difficult show to describe. It comprises three 'blue' men, there is no dialogue - it is all visual jokes which are very funny and in lots of cases very skilful too, loud music is play almost constantly, there is audience participation. If you sit in the front few rows you are given a plastic poncho to wear just in case you get a little splattered from the on-stage activities - the empty seat next to me took a direct hit! The finale is very memorable.

We, me DH, DS(15) and DD(18) thoroughly enjoyed it, there were tears of laughter, and would recommend it to others.

If you hang around in the foyer at the end of the show the blue men come out for photos etc.

I did notice that they are doing a UK tour around April/May/June this year for anyone who is not going to Orlando soon.

Just to warn people - we saw the BMG show at the O2 last Sunday and it is a very different show to what we saw at Las Vegas and, by the sound of it, the show at Orlando as well.

This tour has much more emphasis on the music and a lot of the comedy element is not there, so it has more of a concert feel to it than a variety show.

My Dh and I would love to see this show but feel that our children maybe a little two young, although they loved Cirque show last October.

Did anyone who has seen the show see any young children in the audience:confused3

What ages?
This is taken from BMG website, they do not advise under 5's.

What age group is appropriate for the theatrical shows?
One of the great things about seeing Blue Man Group is that it appeals to all ages. Kids will enjoy the lights, color and spectacle. Adults enjoy the humor, social commentary and depth of the character. Even the hardened theatre critic finds a deeper message behind the fun and mess.

While the show appeals to a wide audience, it’s not recommended for children under five.

At the show we saw on Christmas night a young child, about 7 yrs, was invited onto the stage and took part, along with two adults, in a funny sketch involving string.

As we were in the front row I did notice that he had blue earplugs in to protect his ears from the loud noise.

These may have been sold in the foyer - I am only assuming this as they were blue!

All I will say is that the show is FAB FAB FAB ;) , I went last year with my DH and DS who was 10 and we have never laughed so much :rotfl2: I was doing this in my chair . You can not explaine the show to anyone as I dont know where to start but if you have the chance to go it is worth a visit . The clips on youtube do give you some idea .

We're going to this show in April and I can hardly wait. By everything I've read about it already, it seemes that it's best to go without knowing too much about the show so as not to spoil it. :upsidedow

It always gets positive comments on the Universal board here on the Dis. :thumbsup2

Highly recommended,we've "done" Cirque twice & love this but BMG is totally different, some of the visual effects are breathtaking,it's worth mentioning that they do use a lot of strobes. The audience participation really makes the show though & the Macs are supplied if your in the "splash" zone.
SD:thumbsup2

We did this for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I had wanted to do it for a long time and we weren't dissappointed.
Like others have said you can't really describe it - you have to experience it to fully uderstand what it is all about. If anyone has the chance then I would highly recommend it.
The theatre itself is very small so there are no bad seats. We took the precaution of wearing the macs that they provided but they weren't needed. We were in the 3rd row, but even those in the front didn't get anything on them. And if you wait in the foyer at the end of the show the blue men come out to pose for photos and put their mark in the show program - if you bought one that is.

I, my DW and three DDs absolutely love the Blue Man Group. We saw them in London a few years ago, and had to go again when we visited Orlando last year. I'd happily consider a third visit when we return this summer!

I suspect it might be a love it or hate it kind of experience, but the music is incredible, and so is the skill of the performers - plus I've not laughed so hard in years. Proper, tears rolling down the cheeks stuff...

It's difficult to say too much without giving it away, but I'd recommend it to anyone.
