We are wondering if anyone has done the Blue Lagoon Excursion in Nassau? Part of our party is doing the dolphin Swim, and are wondering if this is worth the money for us to spend part of our day there. Any feedback would be very helpful! Thanks!
It is very beautiful!! My son and I did the Dolphin Encounter in June. We took the ferry over to Blue Lagoon and walked over to where the encounter was. After the encounter we headed over to where you could swim at the beach and had lunch (disney provides this if you do the encounter..dont know if you do the beach day)..The water is absolutely gorgeous..I could see spending a day here..and if you get tired the first ferry goes back to the ship around 2.
We're going to the Bahamas in Nov - not on a DC THIS time to there, but I plan to surprise my DH with an excursion to BL so that he can snorkel with the stingrays!
We had a great time when we went. There is clear shallow water in the inlet, great for little ones or big ones!! They have non-motorized watercraft. There is an area for snorkeling, and hammocks.
My dh and I saw the most varied sea life when we snorkled at the Blue Lagoon last year. The first thing we saw was a 4ft shark, then baracudas and then a sea snake. By the time the sea snake swam by I had had enough for one day! Be sure to snag a hammock after you snorkle and relax with a drink in hand--the life!

I have to say we were unhappy with the Blue Lagoon excursion. When the Calypso arrived the island was FULL of Carnival? cruisers. There were no spots on the beach...it was covered with blue towels from the other cruise line. We walked around for a long time looking for a spot to set our stuff down and it was very hot. We did eventually find a small space down near the bouys. I saw the watercraft people talk about and they were in use but there were so many people in the water I don't know how they manuevered without running people over. It was so crowded that it was not fun for us.
I will say they we really enjoyed the food and the folks who served it were very nice.
Because we were fairly miserable we chose to leave on the 2:00 boat. So did everyone else. As we pulled away there was hardly a soul on the beach. If we had stayed for the 4:00 we would have had the place to ourselves.(but we had early seating)
One other thing that bugged me was the amount of time the Calypso took to get to Blue Lagoon and back. They make a stop at Paradise Island to let other people on. The boat goes so slow. Blue Lagoon is not far away but it took over an hour to get there. I'm convinced they do so this so people will buy more drinks onboard because it is very hot.
We did not do the dolphin thing so can't comment.
We had a wonderful cruise overall...this is just our experience
We did the dolphin swim last Feb. It was worth every penny. The kids have a developed a huge respect for the dolphins and the habitate. Our 7 yr old ds can tell you how he knows a dolphin is a mammal.
We were very lucky. The Wonder was the only ship in port and we had the Blue Lagoon all to ourselves. It is a very beautiful place.
Thanks for all of the input! I love this site for just this reason! Who wants to spend all that money and not know what to expect! Thanks Again to everyone who replied!
