Hello all! We will be on a 3 night DIS cruise to the Bahamas in about 12 days! We have booked the Blue Lagoon excursion and this will be a first time for us (we haven't been on a DIS cruise in 6 years so we're very rusty on what to remember!).

Any tips on what to bring to make this a more enjoyable day? We have 2 boys (7 and 11) going with us. We are just doing the beach day (no dolphin encounter). Any suggestions?

Anyone know what the water temp is like right about now?

Thanks!

I was there last week and I would say water shoes. The beach had a lot of shells, etc and I got a nasty bruise on the arch of my foot (we thought it was from the dolphin foot push but now I think it was from trying to enter the water at BL beach.)

The water temperature is divine. Just perfect. Ahhhh, send me back!

Are you doing just the beach break or the dolphin swim/encounter?

damn...coffee hasn't kicked in yet

anyway... it's a nice calm beach, very enjoyable for a nice relaxing day It's not the place for anything adventurous. Don't know if food is included in the excursion. We had a lunch included when we did it...but the food was pretty bad. So if possible, eat a hearty breakfast or try to bring some kind of snacks and drinks with you. The inflatable area looks fun, but it is extra $$$ and very physically taxing.

They will probably want to do the inflatable obstacle course. My DS was 13 and he loved it. I think it was around $14. Also, I would go on the bridge and watch the dolphin encounters. Very fun and free.

Thanks all! Were the dolphin encounters really worth it for the $? I always feel kinda bad for the animals being made to perform so wasn't sure if it was along those lines?
Either way due to how much more expensive it is we will likely just hang at the beach for the day.

Should we bring our own tubes/rafts or are those provided?

Is there a place to buy food during the day? One of us is gluten free ;)

The dolphin swim was AMAZING! It was literally the highlight of our entire cruise. We did not eat anything on the island because I heard the food wasn't that great, I knew it was pricey and we had just dropped a lot of cash on dolphin swim for 5, and I am gluten free too. I did email Blue Lagoon prior to our trip and they responded that they had gluten free options for food, but after our dolphin swim we just decided to go back to the ship. I walked over to the beach and found it quite rocky/shelly and it was hurting my feet to even walk around so that played into our decision too.

I am doing a trip report here on the trip report board if you want to follow it for gluten free info. I just cruised last week. I am only on day one of the actual cruise in my TR so far but I am adding a little each day.

Check their Facebook page- it's showing 50% off of dolphin encounters right now. Completely worth it! We got a buy 2 get one free when we went so with our party of 6, 2 were free. 50% off is a steal!
