Blue Hole/Island Gully Falls Falmouth, Recent experiences?

We're considering doing a private excursion to Blue Hole. Has anyone been recently?
Any recommendations for a tour company?

We did not go to Blue Hole, we did Dunns River Falls, but we used Marvyn''s Paradise Tours http://www.marvynsparadisetours.com/ as a tour company for a private tour and thought they were wonderful. Easy to deal with before, very nice clean van to transport us. Our driver was Whitfield and he was wonderful. He told us a lot about Jamaica and was trying very hard to make our tour perfect. I woudl definitely book with the same tour company again if we return to Jamaica.

We visited Blue Hole in June 2015 (so not that recently). We used SNL Jamaican Tours. The owner, Lindsay McFarland, worked on the Disney Magic in the late 90's. He went above and beyond any expectation we had for the day. He is a historian and gave us all the history we wanted about the island and culture. He passed some money from his wallet to allow us to see how their currency looks and even stopped on the side of the road to pick beans used to make Caster Oil. Our kids learned so much on the trip.

And if History isn't your thing: he had told us at the beginning of the drive that if we didn't want to hear anymore to let him know and he would stop. He also encouraged us to ask him questions so that he could educate us on what we wanted to know, not just want he wanted to tell us.

Now back to Blue Hole- SNL Jamaican Tours took us to an area that is not used by some of the larger tour companies. This allowed us to have parts of the falls to ourselves for over 30 minutes. Then a quick 5 minute hike through the woods took us to the much busier main falls that is used by all tour companies.

Just wanted to post back and say that our family of 7--including my parents who are adventurous and in their late 60s, 3 kids ages 6, 8 and 10 all had a great day with Lindsay and SNL Jamaican tours at the Blue Hole. We did a private tour with just our family. Lindsay met us inside the port area in Falmouth and then drove us in his van out to the Blue Hole and back. We met him around 730 and were easily back in the port area by 2 or 230 with a leisurely lunch. On the way he stopped to share interesting history points and we learned a lot of Jamaica, its history, the animals and birds, plants and trees, schools etc. We were the first group to arrive at Blue Hole and had the first set of falls entirely to ourselves. Omar was our guide at the Blue Hole and he was fabulous--carried the 6 yo over rocky parts, was there with a hand before you even realized you were unsure of your footing. After Blue Hole we had lunch at Scotchies and Lindsay encouraged the kids to try Ting, a jamaican soft drink and gave ideas for foods to try. It was my daughter's favorite excursion of our Western Caribbean trip. Before the trip, Lindsay was always quick to respond to any questions we had as we were planning our day. I just wanted to say thanks for posting info on Lindsay. I booked him for our port day in May based on your reviews. I was really struggling over what to do and who to use to get where we wanted to go. Now I am not stressed since we have him. Already super impressed with his service!

Please come back and post you review on him once you are back from the cruise! I know he was trying to raise money to purchase a new van and the only way he can do that is with more booking from reviews of people like us!

We also went to the blue hole. Booked Courtney Taylor tours. Fantastic day! Our day was the blue hole, river rafting and lunch at scotchies. The river rafting was ok, we did this after the blue hole so it was anti climactic. Next time we'd skip the rafting, blue hole is amazing!

I hope you have a great time. Bring your sense of adventure. The kids watched a few youtube videos to get excited. We wore Keens. I would definitely recommend a closed toe water shoe and not any kind of flip flop. There was a bathroom with a clean flushing toilet and a few areas to change privately at Blue Hole but we just wore our suits off the boat. Lindsay offered to make a rest stop on the way there if we needed. Wish we were headed back to Jamaica again!
