We have eaten there a long time ago and have avoided it because of the price. How does the split plate thing work? I see that they charge $5 for this; can someone explain?
What do they do if you just as for an extra plate? Do they force you to do the "split plate" thing and do it for you? We don't need the extra food and we don't need two salads. I'd be splitting my entree with a 7 year old child, who will eat a few bites of this and that, but won't eat 1/2 of anything.
At WDW they allowed me to just order the entree and ask for an extra plate and dish her up some food myself. They didn't charge me.
$5 is not a big deal, but $12 starts to get a bit steep to just cut my food in half and put it on another plate!!
Awhile back a CM (was it glendalais?) gave the tip that if you ask for an extra plate after the food arrives then there is no split plate fee. I guess if you tell them ahead of time that you want to split then they split it for you and give you extra salad or whatever and charge you for it. So I think you should just order your meal, don't order anything for your child and then ask for a plate after the food arrives and I don't think it should cost extra.
Well....
My hubby and I ate at blue bayou last weekend - got the split plate - and were charged $12....so, i'm thinking it did go up
Thanks for the info. We will be there tomorrow and just wanted to know what all the options are. To split plate or not to split, I think it sure will save us some money.
