Blue Bayou

What is everyone's favorite thing to eat at BB? I am eating there for Easter dinner and cannot decide what I am going to order.

DH had the filet and I had the chicken. The filet was really good, but I thought the chicken was excellent! :thumbsup2

We had the ribs once, they weren't good at all. Fatty and not tasty. I like the Tesoro Island chicken a lot, it's very good. The Monte Cristo is also a hit for our family but it's not very healthy. LOL

I've had the salmon both times and it was really good. DH & DS's had the filet and they said it was very tasty as well.

Well I think you all suggested just about all the options  I have eaten the monte cristo before at Cafe New Orleans and wasn't super impressed. We are going for dinner and I do not think it is an option then. The filet does look yummy, but I do love chicken. Ah, decisions, decisions.

My 16 yo dd and I ate at the Blue Bayou in Feb. I had the crab cakes (excellent) and she had the chicken (she loved it). We lucked out and were seated right next to the water in front of the boat, under the tree. It was an awesome experience. They even brought her a chocolate mousse for desert since we were celebrating her birthday.

Just thought I would mention that when we checked in and requested waterside, we were told it would be 40 minutes. It was actually only about 20 and I have heard several other people say that they were given a much longer estimate then it actually ended up being.

Same thing happened with us. We were told 40 minute wait and we were seated within 15 minutes.:cool1:

I usually get the crabcakes but last week I strayed and had the 5 pepper roast new York. Very tasty :)

regarding waterside seating. We always sit waterside ever since I can remember. Over the years they have changed the policy on how you request it. Used to be we requested waterside when we made the initial ressie, years and years ago lol when they still had Rosemary bread yum
But we have never been denied. It's worth the wait to me.
I get there 20 minutes before the ressie and almost always we are seated waterside at our ressie time. So it rarely equals to a longer wait. :goodvibes

During my one visit,I decided to see about my p.s. about 30 minutes early, because I needed to sit down for a bit, and where it would be cool. I had stated that my p.s. was at 2:10, and if it might be possible, to be seated by the waterside. I had also arrived early, so I would have a better chance to secure said waterside table. The time frame was awesome, for I had actually ended up waiting for far less from what I was planning, due to my half hour early arrival time, and in less than 15 minutes I was seated. So that was at least 15 minutes early that I had been shown to my waterside table. I was pretty amazed by that, and so very pleased as well.

Here is another vote for the Tesoro Island Chicken! :) Yum!

BB has been a tradition of ours for as long as I can remember. Both dh's family and my own have *always* finished off a DL trip there! But not this time :-) The prices have just become a bit too much, especially now that appetizers are gone. The $30 entrees combined with a $12 split plate charge just don't cut it for us. Food is delicious, atmosphere is very cool ... but it is no longer in the budget. Was amazing to go on pirates and see how many empty tables are there now vs. three years ago. Looks like others feel the same way.

We will have to live vicariously through all of yoU! ;)

My family and I are going to have dinner at BB. My son doesnt seem to like much on the menu so we were going to split a surf and turf. Does anyone know how they split that particular plate?

Lunchtime at BB seems to be a tradition of mine - last year I made it my last meal to make sure I had a good, full meal before my long flight home and it didn't disappoint :thumbsup2

I've been there twice and both times I've had the roast New York :cloud9:

It's just a shame the puddings aren't as special as they were they first time I went :sad2:

I don't understand this split plate charge... Couldn't you just ask for an extra plate and dish it yourself?

I hated the rosemary bread. What do they serve for bread now?

The last time I had dined there, they were tasty little soft buns. They use to be sourdough rolls if I remember correctly. I would like to see those return. I Love sourdough! Yum ~

Now they serve soft rolls. They are very good. :) We usually eat our way thru a couple of baskets at least. As for the split plate fee, don't tell them you are splitting, just share, ask for an extra plate after you get your meal. the split plate fee includes extra sides (soup or salad to start and the potatoes and/or veggies with the meal) so if you don't care about the extras then just share.
