I have made a priority seating for lunch at the Blue Bayou. Has anyone eaten here before and was it a good meal. Also anything from the menu you recommend?

I LOVE the Monte Cristo! It's big enough to share, too.

Their gumbo is good, too.

We have eaten there numerous times. Big time $$$, great atmosphere for most. Surf and turf, they used to have the best prime rib. I love the key lime pie or the cookie boat.

MMMMMMMMMMMMM Blue Bayou, my fave.....well one of them :) I like the Monte Cristo but it big and heavy, I also liked the Tesoro Island Chicken. The gumbo is good, very good but I usually go with a salad, I haven't had the new salad tho so I might just go with gumbo next time. I always go with the potatoes and veggies side, the spinach isn't that great but the potatoes are soooooooooooo good!!!! For dessert we really like the cookie boat, the 4 of us can share it.

ooh yum!
yes, its very good! pricey but good food...

prime rib is awesome!
key lime pie is the best!
atmosphere is amazing!

so, i give it two thumbs up!

It's a shame they got rid of the prime rib. I really wanted to try it this time. I had a bite of my DH prime rib a few years ago and it was the best I had ever had. I guess this time I will try the Tesoro chicken. BB is my favorite Disney restaurant of all time, enjoy;)

Here is a picture of the surf and turf... it is only served at dinner, but it was amazing.

We ate there for lunch on our end of july trip. LOVED the atmosphere! The food was very expensive...My sister and I ordered salmon and crabcakes so we could share both...crabcakes were not good...salmon was good...they wouldn't let dd11 order from the kids menu, but did offer to split the 'adult' mac and cheese between my dd and niece. Service was good...and like I said, you just can't beat the atmosphere.

I don't have the book on me right now but we bought the Disney Cookbook a few years back while at WDW and one of the recipes was BB's Canjun Prime Rib. We make it every year at Christmas and it turns out perfect every time.

I'll post the recipe later if anyone wants it.

1 tbsp salt

1 tbsp white pepper

1 tbsp granulated garlic

1 1/2 tsp ground red pepper

1 tsp ground fennel seed

1 tbsp ground black pepper

1 prime rib, about 4 ribs in thickness (9oz per serving)

__________

1. mix all spices and rub prime rib on all aides, let rest overnight in refrigerator
2. Preheat oven to 350. Place prime rib fat side up in a rack in an open roasting pan.
3. Roast for about 1 1/2 hrs for medium rare (or until internal thermometer reads about 130 degrees). Let rest 15 minutes before slicing.

Don't know what time you made your lunch PS for, but we did it according to the tip we found here: You get a PS for the first lunch seating at 11:30. Show up at 11:15 and check in at the podium, and request waterside. Otherwise you could be in for quite a wait, especially if you request waterside.

Check the menu at allears.net http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/men_bay.htm That one's from May, so not too old.

There's a report from our lunch there in my TR, linked in my signature below. It's on page 6. There are pics of our food. DD had the buccaneer beef short ribs, and they were SOOOO good. I would have had them if I'd known. My Tesoro Island Chicken was ok.

I love BB. I hope you have fun!

Our favorite lunch items are the Monte Cristo and the Tesoro Island chicken. It is expensive, the food is good - but not great, debatable if really worth the price. I pay for the experience and atomosphere. It's become a tradition for us.

Arrive early and ask to sit by water. I always book the 11:30 lunch and show up at 11:15 and the only time we haven't gotten waterside table was with bigger party. They typically won't seat a party bigger than 4 at waterside tables.

That's it??? That seems soooooooooooo easy! LOL

Yep that's it. Very easy but tastes like you went to a lot of trouble.

We always have people asking for the recipe every Christmas and they think we are joking when we tell them it is Disney's recipe.

I saw on the menu that they have a shared plate fee. My DH & I will probably share a Monte Cristo. I'm curious to try one, since they don't have them at WDW. We often share 1 or 2 appetizers, an entree & dessert. (The amount we order depends on whether it's lunch or dinner. I'm thinking we may go to BB for lunch.) I'd rather have a shared plate fee than not order what we actually want. I'm just curious to know if they really do charge extra.

They only charge extra if you ask for a shared plate fee. Then they give you two sides, two salads and two plates.

If you just under ONE thing and ask for an extra plate (but specify you don't want to do the shared fee), then they'll bring you an extra plate and you can split up everything yourselves. WITH NO EXTRA FEE!!!

You get a little less food this way, but if you're ordering appetizers and all, you probably will be glad for that. :thumbsup2

About how far in advance do you need to do PS for the here??
