We've always wanted to eat at the Blue Bayou but haven't been able to as of yet. We'd like to go this time while we are there in March. For those of you who have dined there I was wondering what your favorite thing on the menu is? Anything you wouldn't recommend? I tried doing a search but it's not working for me so if this has already been asked I apologize. TIA!

I love the roast new york steak and the chicken. The only thing I steer clear of is the Monte Cristo at lunch. It was way too greasy for my stomach :/ I felt really ill that night. And of course, the cookie boat! SO yummy!

I don't normally eat short ribs, but I tried them there and LOVED them. I wasn't a fan of the potatoes, but between the short ribs, wedge salad, and bread it didn't matter. I believe they have only one vegetarian dish, so my boyfriend is pretty optionless when I drag him there.

Do people make reservations (ADRs ) at DLR like at WDW? I would like to eat here too for my special dinner (that and Medieval Times). Unless someone has another recommendation.

I love the 5 pepper roasted beef I find it to be amazing mmm they used to have fried cheese cake, which was amazing as well, but I believe its been taken off the menu since. Heres a website that has the menu on it if your curious. http://www.themouseforless.com/tripplanning/menus/dl/bluebayou.shtml
Just for fun my sister and I at the Blue Bayou with out souviner cups (sorry you cant see more of the resturant)

At dinner they do only have 1 vegetarian dish. My wife is vegetarian, and hates mushrooms. She did order it once to dry it, but didn't like it at all. Now when we go, she'll just get salad and sides and she's fine. Next time we go she might try to order the mac and cheese from the kids menu, but I hear conflicting reports as to if they'll let us do that or not. We shall see I guess! Oh, at lunch you can order the monte cristo without meat, but again, not for sensitive bellies!

I love the Monte Cristo but it is greasy so I can't eat the whole thing. I also really enjoyed the Tesoro Island Chicken. I love the potatoes and the wedge salad too. Oh for dessert go for the cookie boat! YUM!!!

Unlike WDW, ADRs are DLR are called PS (Priority Seating). You can make a reservation with Disney Dining uh..60 days out? And then show up early to request a waterside table.

I'm definitely going for the cookie boat next time. How big is it? Is it big enough to split 3 ways?

I had the chicken, DD had the ribs, and while the chicken was good the ribs were really scrumptious. I had the gumbo and she had the wedge salad, and we shared the cookie boat. It was all very good. There are pictures on my trip report, page 6, link is in my siggy below.

There's a great method to get a waterside table that we found here and used to our advantage. You make a PR for 11:30 a.m., which is the first lunch seating. Show up at the podium to check in at 11:15 and request waterside. You'll be among the first seated and are much more likely to get waterside and fast service. If you wait for dinner, you will often have to wait much longer past your PS time for waterside.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the tip!

And thank you everyone for the replies!

We can split it 4 ways with no problem, 3 ways will be fine. DBF and I had to struggle to finish it between the 2 of us.

Had the Short Ribs when I went. Looooved it :).
I wanted to get some Creme Brulee, but I was so stuffed after eating my wedge salad (YUM), 2 rolls from their bread service, picking part of my sister's salmon, and eating half of my cousin's monte cristo that I couldn't possibly eat another bite. Oh yeah, I'm a garbage disposal when I wanna be :rotfl: .

I'd say the only thing I didn't really care for was the steamed spinach. Tasted a bit too leafy for me.
Everything else that went down the tubes tasted swell :thumbsup2 .

Someone asked how big the cookie boat is.....
and I just thought I'd post you all something to drool over...

I have been twice and had the prime rib both times. First time, thought it was very good. Second time.....so, so. The atmosphere is what it's all about at Blue Bayou. I'd go at least once, especially if you can hold out for a water-side table. It's well worth the wait.

I think I would not be able to stomach the Monte Cristo either. I don't like ham and swiss cheese anyway, but it sounds like too much fried stuff for me.

We will be going for our 20th anniversary dinner. The ribs sound good but thought I heard they weren't there anymore. I could have got that wrong though. I haven't been there in years and years. In the 80's they had a spinich stuffed chicken that I used to get.
