blue bayou ???

When we went to DL last may 06 blue bayou was closed I would like to try it next may what is so special with that restaurant ??? I think you can see the inside of Pirates of the carabean am I right ??? what about food and prices ???

Yes, the BB is actually inside the POtC ride. Very nice ambiance. You can check out the menu and prices here:

To clarify, the restaurant borders the bayou that leads you into the ride. You don't see any pirates while you are eating. However, you will hear the occasional scream.

That being said, the Blue Bayou has the best ambiance of any restaurant at the resort and should be tried at least once.

The ambiance is great, sitting on the dock rules! But....

The food is pretty eh for those kinda prices. Went there for my birthday last year and wasnt too impressed with the food. Ill stick to the country bear! wooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Random Villains about the food at the BB, and I found the service to be sub-par as well.

But if RV is talking about the Hungry Bear (Country Bear??). I couldn't agree LESS. The food there is just gross - dry, tasteless burgers, soggy french fries. Yuck. It's about the same level as you'll find at the Villiage Haus in FL.

I on the other hand loved the food and loved the service, we were right on the edge of the restaurant so every boat that went by while we were eating asked us what we were eating, and even when the birthday cakes was brought out for another table, the boats started singing along. I loved it! Of course I'm a huge fan of Creole/Cajun food..mmm...gumbo...*drools*...oops, there I go again. Sorry.

We ate there last week for my birthday lunch. Thanks to this board we arrived at 11:15am (for our 11:30am ressie) and requested a waterside table (actually we were there at 11am but they won't check you in until 11:15). We were the first ones seated.

On to the food. My mom and I split the cajun salmon (for the $4 split plate charge we both got our own starter and our own sides). We both thought the salmon and potatoes were really good and the vegetables were blah. My dad had the Monte Cristo and loved it. We split the Flying Dutchman cookie boat and it was amazing! They also brought me out some chocolate mousse for my b-day (my dad ate it, I'm not sure how it was).

Our waitress was Nancy and was the best server we had in our two week vacation.

We really enjoyed our time there. It's $$$ but it was an excellent memory. I have great memories of eating there w/ my parents when I was little.

I think everyone should eat at the BB at least once just for the ambiance (SP?). This is my favorite resturant in DL.

The food is expensive but I have never had bad food and always had great service. I quess I have gotten lucky. If price is an issue go for a late lunch rather than dinner. Prices are less, plus you can get the Montey Crisco sandwich that they don't serve at dinner (at least they didn't last time I ate there).

I agree, food is not to die for as other restaurants within that price range, BUT for the atmosphere and the quality comparisons and knowing the number of people they actually serve compared to other restaurants of this type - they do rather well in their preparations. For the atmosphere - it will always be a favorite of mine. Plus any restaurant that can get me my creme brulee is always tops in my book...lol...
