Blue Bayou - thoughts?

We have reservations at BB this week, but would prefer to do the Fantasmic dining package. Is that an option? When I booked our table the Fantasmic wasn’t open yet.
In the long thread about Fantasmic, one person mentioned that they had a regular BB reservation and were offered the Fantasmic package if they wanted it. I'm not sure if that happens on a regular basis.

If they offer it to you, will you please ask if Fantasmic dining is always an option with a regular reservation and report back?

We actually didn’t end up asking. We picked up a fantasmic package for the QS Mexican place our first day. While it was nice enough to see it up close, I wouldn’t pay that to be allowed to sit on the ground. That was crazy. I had no idea there were no benches or anything. We ended up eating at BB for $40 pp after tip. I would have not be happy paying an extra $50 to sit on the ground at the show! Yikes!

When you were seated at Blue Bayou, did they place a Fantasmic menu on the table along with the regular menu?

Had my first disappointing meal at BB last trip. Got the filet, asked for Medium Rare, got well done and one side was burnt so bad I couldn't even eat half of it. Server was super rude to us and just not a great visit :( making me think twice about making a reservation this next trip.

ETA, I did tell the server about the burnt part when she walked by and noticed I didn't eat it and made a comment about it. Then she said the kitchen is busy so... and dropped the check and walked off. Never came back.

I think that server just didn't want to deal with it. Didn't matter whether or not they're busy... aren't YOU busy and paying a LOT to be given burned food? In a situation like that, ask to speak with the manager and maybe report the incident with the server. That was totally unacceptable!

I had an 11 am and saw one party get accepted. Other than that, they were being turned away. But I subscribed to a dining reservation finder and had many come up.
I suscribed to a free reservation finder for our trip the end of August. Nothing has come up yet. Do I need to sign up for one of the paid notifications? I was trying so hard to get the BB Fantasmic package (Fantasmic isn't even showing during our trip) that I missed the regular meal reservations.

I subscribe to both and have had better luck with the paid one. Having said that, I'm having more and more come up as my trip gets closer. Probably people start cancelling more as their dates approach, so it may be a little early for you to see many.

I am using the free service and have had 2 alerts. I missed the first one, but was able to grab the 2nd one. We are going on 8/31 and 9/1 to Disneyland.
I had an alert yesterday and missed it. I was driving and obviously didn't check my phone until I stopped. By then it was too late. That problem won't go away with a paid subscription.

It's been awhile since my family did BB, and Fantasmic was offline the last time we went, so I tried to book a BB Fantasmic package during our upcoming October trip -- and it looked like I did, as I proceeded through the app, but then there wasn't anything indicating that this was a Fantasmic package by the time I got to the end. How can I know if that's what I booked, or if it's just regular dinner at BB?

To book the Fantasmic package, you have to choose this one on the list of dining reservation options, NOT Blue Bayou (which just gives you a regular meal reservation there). Once you click this, it gives you all of the restaurant options that offer a Fantasmic package.

Did you get your reservation yet? We have one for a party of 3 at 1pm on 8/31 that I will be dropping. We could coordinate a specific time so you could grab it when I cancel.

We've only been to BB once. They seated us 45 minutes after our ADR time, they weren't taking any requests to wait for tables with views,
Haven’t been to BB since 2018.

Always booked one of the 1st lunch slots, 11 am, and indicated we wanted to wait for a water side table. Never an issue.

Is this no request policy still in place?

They don't take requests ahead of time (like before the day of your reservation), but you can request a waterside table when the restaurant opens or when you check in. I'm not sure why the other poster was not able to request waterside, but it could be that it was super busy that day and the staff didn't want to/didn't have time.

We were there in January. They allowed us to make a request but then practically brow beat us trying to get us to change our minds. Extremely rude. Even called us back up to the podium about 10 minutes after checking in telling us it was going to be at least 45 minutes to an hour. Telling us if we wanted a Monte Cristo (we did but hadn't told them that) we'd miss out since we would be into the dinner menu by then. I said no thanks, we'll take our chances. We were seated 15 minutes after that, right at our reservation time. At a waterside table. The whole thing was really bizarre.

I've nearly ALWAYS been told to expect a 45 min-1 hr wait for waterside. I've never waited more than 20. I think it's just a thing they do to try and dissuade people so they don't have a whole crush of waterside-waiters and I'm sure it gets old having to keep track of it.

We just went a couple of weeks ago, but it was for dinner. I have no idea of it's an official policy, but we heard a couple of people being denied when they asked. We were seated a row off from the water this time without any special requests. That was good enough for me.

Oh yes, I'm aware. They were just particularly persistent with it this time. Allow requests, don't allow requests. Whatever. But badgering us like that just seemed odd.
