Blue Bayou Reservations, Do you have to have them?

My friend and I will be at the resort this next week. When I check online for reservations there is one available. Any veterans know if they hold some space for walk-ins or same day ressies?

My understanding is a reservation is required. Now if you happen to be there on a slow day, you may get in, but I would think it is better to be safe than sorry.

Did you mean none available, or one available? If there is one, take it. If there is none, keep checking, especially the day or two before.

Take the one time slot available. otherwise walk up and ask if there is anything available. I'm not sure if they hold back reservations. I would imagin they have a few cancellations each day. Give it a go and be willing to wait a bit.

They don't hold back, but you can walk up and ask about availability. I have been told at 3pm that I could come back at 8pm and ask then. So, if you can't get a reservation before you arrive, go there as soon as it opens and see if they can get you in at any point.

It used to be you could get a walk-up at BB. But I think those days are for the most part long gone. Whenever I go to BB I get a res. And while we are waiting to be seated I usually see at least one walk-up being turned away for lack of a res.

We have been turned away from TS restaurants without reservations many times. I don't always make them for our weekend trips, and it never hurts to ask if a table is available. In the past two years, I have had very little luck with walk ups. If I want to eat somewhere for sure, I make a reservation now. I'm booking one for our December weekend trip for Saturday dinner just in case it's cold so we have indoor dining. I'm not going to chance walking up and being told no. So, if you really want BB, then make a reservation. If one isn't available, keep checking back, even day of.

If you know you want to eat there, make the reservation if one is available. It’s a very popular restaurant and getting a table without an ADR isn’t likely unfortunately.

Hostesses always quote at least double time in our experience, so if they quote walk up at 90 min, count on 45. If you want to ensure shorter wait, make reservations, and if at DL on a busy day they may not accept walk ups.

I didn't realize that they are no longer (as a general rule) holding out some walk up reservations at TS restaurants. So glad I booked BB and CC for this past visit --I wasn't able to get walk up at CO for lunch..wished I'd booked it ahead.

If you really want to eat there, then I would definitely recommend making a reservation. We've eaten there many times, including weekend before last, and I always see walk-ups being turned away. You could get lucky if there is a cancellation, but I wouldn't chance it...

Just another vote to get ressies. Its sad to see people turned away, but it definitely happens often. I'd try calling if you cannot find what you want online.

I think the third party DTD locations (e.g., Brennan's, Naples, Catal, etc.) do still hold out a portion of their tables for walk-ups, but not the in-park dining locations or the Disney-owned locations in the hotels.

As others have said, I would also highly recommend making a reservation for any TS you know you want to eat at (and, especially, if you want to eat a specific time). While they do take walk-ups if they have availability, they do not always have availability. I've seen folks turned away at BB, Carnation, CO, and Carthay on days that didn't seem all that busy.

Yes...however, the BB doesn't have a very extensive dessert menu.

I know a lot of people try to avoid the cost of eating there by doing this, so yes. But the desserts are very limited. I think they currently have a creme brulee and a cake.

I was just there this weekend and was able to get a walk-in for lunch on Saturday for my GF and I.
The only reason we got in was that we were just a couple, and lunch isn't as full normally anyways.
Dinner is another story altogether though. For that, I would try and get a reservation if it's an important experience for you.

I appreciate that. We are travelling with another couple and their kids would love to see the ride from inside but at the same time we don't want to waste too much time inside. Thanks for the information. I love creme brulee.

Just to clarify, some of the tables can see the bayou scene that is immediately after the loading area from within the Blue Bayou restaurant (you can request one, but there is usually an extra wait for one of those tables). For other tables, it's more about the atmosphere (i.e., you can't really see the boats going by). You don't see any of the parts of the attraction with the pirates from inside the Blue Bayou.
