Our kids are 13, 11 and 9.

What is the age-range for the kids' menu and how large are the meals?

Are adult plates large?

Kids meals are large enough to feed an adult!

They are decent sized. My DD11 (at the time, she's 12 now) had the Prime Rib and she loved it. She didn't eat the sides but her meat was completely gone! LOL Age range is up to 11 I think. DD12 looks 10 so she is just given a kids menu most places we go, since she doesn't eat much it works for her but occasionally she orders off the adult menu. Adult servings are huge, they are easily sharable but BB does charge a split plate fee.

According to Disney Dining, the official policy is that 3-9 is considered a child and 10 years old and up is considered an adult just like with the parkhopper passes.
When I made all my Priority Seatings they asked the ages of my children and I told them that my daughter was nine but would be turning ten during the trip.
When we went to Blue Bayou and the Carnation Cafe, they did not ask my daughter her age and although she was wearing her birthday badge that clearly stated that she was celebrating her 10th birthday, I ordered from the children's menu and there was no problem.
However, when we went to Goofy's Kitchen, we were asked her age and she was charged for an adult meal.
My understanding is that the official policy is that for all meals, a child is considered 3-9 but in our limited experience, only the character meals enforced this policy.

I don't think you can split a kid's plate!
However, I think that with anyone under 3, they don't expect you to order them a meal and they can just eat off your plate.
I know that at the character meals, they don't charge you for anyone under 3but they can grab a plate and eat like everyone else.
I know that we took our son in December once and he was to turn 3 the next month and it was great because he could still do the same things but we didn't have to pay for character meals or a park hopper pass and he just ate off our plates in restaurants.

We found the portions to be very large. Sharing is a good idea and costs $5. During lunch, for example, the famous Monte Cristo Sandwich - which is indeed perfect- is actually two sandwiches. All meals come with soup orsalad and bread. Free refills on the Mint Juleps!

Well, I cannot eat much at one time & when we ate there they were kind enough to allow me to order the prime rib from the kids menu. It was even to much for me. It was very good to. The desserts there are the BOMB! I tasted each of the brulees & the were mouth watering. Loved Loved Loved them!!!!

we just got back and i did not think the plates we had were large. i think they were similar to most places to eat. I had the salmon and my DH had he jamalaya. my DS who is five had the chicken witch came with spagetti( he did not eat it all but never does. best meal in the park though. muuuuch better than steak house 55. Yamabuki was delicious too. actually.. yamabuki and blue bayou are my favs..

DD & I split the kids prime rib this past April ~ DD ate her roll and the carrots/celery & ranch, I gave her some of the prime rib and potatoes, she didn't eat much of it, (she doesn't eat much of anything, lots of small meals for her) I even let DS finish what I couldn't of the prime rib! We then shared the cookie boat. DS ordered the fried PB&J, that is not big enough to share.
