BLT YaY!!!

Congratulations and welcome home BLT neighbor.

My advice is to plan early and take advantage of your home resort advantage by booking at the 11 month mark. And then if you want to actually stay at a different resort, switch at the 11 month mark. That way if you can't get a reservation at the 7 month mark you are covered by the reservation at BLT you made at the 11 month mark. Also you have a better chance getting a standard view at BLT at 11 months and stretching your points.

Wow that is a lot, I guess I was looking at just the room type exchanges (not the adventures by Disney) which some look like you could get for around 160/wk and the hotels looks REALLY nice (like the grand mayans) thanks for all your tips!!!
First off, welcome home! BLT Rocks!!

Yes the RCI charts are not really a lot of points compared to adventures by disney or the conceirge collection. The reason people feel it is not a good use of points is the price we paid for DVC. DVC is much more expensive then some of the other timeshare programs. For example, say you paid $100 per point for DVC and purchased 160pts. You paid $16K. With those 160pts you could get a week at an RCI resort.

My parents purchased a week at another timeshare for $6K a few years back. For their $6K investment, they could also get a week at an RCI resort. So if I were going to use my timeshare to trade often it would make sense to purchase the $6K timeshare rather then the $16K timeshare. Make sense?

Congrats and :welcome: Home, Neighbor!! We just returned from a week at BLT over Christmas. We love, love, love our home resort. Standard view villas are a great point value and we had a view of the lake and Space Mountain to boot. We enjoy the walk to/from MK and the monorail to Epcot. Our kids love the slide at Bay Cove pool and enjoyed playing foosball in Community Hall. We can't wait to go back in April! That will be our 4th stay at BLT since we bought in April '10, so let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to help! :goodvibes

Congratulation and Welcome Home! I know you will love your DVC as most of us here on the DIS do!

We are probably one of the few members here that have used our points for trips other than just Disney World. Of course we have done all of the DVC resorts including HHI, Vero Beach and GCV. We have not made it to Aulani yet but plan on seeing it soon when we take the DCL Hawaiian cruise in April 2012.

We have traded out (previously with II, prior to RCI) and have gone places such as NY, Mackinaw Island, MI, Las Vegas and many many Disney cruises all using our points.

My thoughts are your points are yours to use as you choose to vacation that particular year/time. If it is a trip you have been wanting to take and you can leverage your points instead of having to pay more money to travel, then it is a good deal for you and your famiy. Enjoy your membership and let it work for you and your desires and don't worry about best value....memories are much more precious as the years go by!!!

Now let your planning begin.....that is part of the fun as well....:thumbsup2

:welcome: home, BLT neighbor!! We stayed there last April with our DS, DDiL, and DGS (age 8 months at the time) and we loved it! The proximity to the MK with a little one will be nice for you. :)

hey! welcome home! how's that little boy of yours??

we stayed at BLT this past september and loooooved it! we actually just submitted a resale contract to disney for ROFR for BLT (we already own at SSR and BCV - we just can't get enough!).

you're going to love owning DVC. every time we step foot in our villa we agree that it's one of our best decisions!

Always great to welcome new neighbors!:cool1: You will love DVC and BLT is a terrific choice:earsboy:

Welcome home! Congratulations! party:

IMHO, you'll love the location. It is so easy to walk back to BLT from the MK for that afternoon break. I'm not an owner at BLT, but a fan of it, the monorail and the Contemporary. Theme park view is a must do, at least once, if you have little ones or those act like little ones (Me) at WDW. We had a great stay at BLT. Now my wife wants to stay there with theme park view everytime! I keep trying to find the extra funds so we can own at BLT, too! :rotfl2:
