BLT with Small Children

I have a dedicated 2-bedroom villa at BLT booked for our upcoming trip. The plan is to put our 5 year old and 4 year old in the 2nd bedroom. I am a little concerned about the sliding glass door access to the balcony. Does anyone know where the locks are - are they out of reach at the top of the door?

If I recall correctly (we were just there in November), they are at handle (adult waist) height. That said, they are relatively heavy doors. Have you thought about not even telling the kids that they open, and/or swearing on tv watching or something equally impactful that they are not allowed to touch the door? You could probably also bring some duct tape and just tape over the lock, use the other rooms' access when you are all together.....

The latch had a thin switch type lever for locking. \ < Just like that. LOL- I have teens and tweens and still worry about the latch. I would make sure the doors were locked and gave them a jiggle. Yes, the doors are heavier and they were at adult waist height.

Pull the table and two chairs and put them right against the door...will not harm the carpet or furniture, but will effectively block the door, and still give you room and peace of mind.

We were just at BLT this past September and I have 4 kids. My youngest two are both quite adventurous and have no fear so I was worried they would try to go out the door onto the balcony without us. To worsen my fears, the lock didn't work SOOO, we had to pull a chair over to where it was in front of the door. Which worked and they never knew the door opened

Thank you for all the responses. It sounds like it will probably work to pull furniture in front of it before they enter the room and they'll never even know it opens. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

As mousekeeping for a stick (like a broomstick that lost it's worth) to put down at the base. I'm sure they'll oblige, especially knowing there are little ones in a balcony room.
