BLT thoughts

Just finished a two night stay at BLT over New Years. We really enjoyed the resort, and the location can not be beat. We were wait-listed for an MK view room, which never came through. Fortunately, we could see NYE fireworks for MK, Epcot, and DHS from our balcony!

The room was in good shape, but it did show signs of premature wear. I agree with the others that have commented that the materials selected were maybe a mistake. Not a huge deal, but definitely noticeable, especially when you compare it to another new resort like Kidani. Some of the common areas also could use some TLC. For example, the center elevator on the south side also had a big piece of its base-board missing. That said, I liked the modern decor a lot.

We were in a non-renovated studio, so the bathroom sink still faced the kitchen sink. We actually preferred this set-up as it allowed someone to shower while someone else was using the sink. The gap in the door was odd, however.

Another quirk we experienced was that we kept receiving voice mail messages that were definitely for someone else. We also had Magical Express checkout papers on our door after the first night that were for another party. Not sure if this was a computer glitch or something else. As other posters have commented, our keys also do not say "DVC Member."

We went to MK on 12/30 and although it was crowded, it wasn't as crazy as I expected. We stuck to AK on 12/31, which was not crowded at all. At 4pm we walked on to Dinosaur and at 530pm we waited about 15 minutes for Everest. Yesterday we went to Epcot, which was also not very crowded.

We are now at Kidani and still having a great time. I love being a DVC member!

There is a saying...."Location. Location, Location...", But I agree, there is alot of wear on property, kinda sad....
We didn't mind the old set up with the bath sink in the kichen area.
The gap, oh well....it is there. One thing we did do was bring our own shower head. But we did put the old one back, when we left.
We did not have any expreances with other's message....

As you, WE LOVE DVC!!!! and proud owners....

Thanks for your thoughts! I love when everyone posts about the resort and how things are going. It is great insight for all of us. We are going to stay at BLT for the first time in June in a 1 Bedroom. I know that we will love it, but of course there are so many reports on the condition of the rooms that I like to read all that I can. Enjoy the rest of your trip! :)

We just got back from a trip last night, we had 4 nights at Kidani and 3 in a Treehouse. We never made it over to see BLT. Everyone complains how dark Kidani is and I think that the Treehouses are darker, maybe because they use low wattage bulbs at THV.

I agree the crowds were big, but not as bad as two years ago.

Thanks for the BLT update. We finally got to tour the property last week, and looking forward to our May trip.

Thanks for the report! Glad to hear that you are enjoying your trip. How does your Kidani stay compare to your BLT stay?

I find it hard to compare the two, but in I prefer Kidani overall except for BLT's location and transportation options. BLT is still a great resort, however!

I own at BLT. Have not stayed there yet. I stayed at Kidani. Huge two BR. But no quickmeal restaurants. Real bad planning. Needed to go to Jamba House. A real pain. Is it a quick walk to Contemporary from BLT?

Actually in walking time, its about the same, but BLT you will be inside for the walk then under a covered walkway over the main building.

From my room last summer to the Contempo Cafe was right around 4 minutes. We were on the 6th floor, and down at the end of the hallway, so you couldn't really get much farther.

This 4 minutes included having to get on the elevator, go down a floor to the bridge, and then heading over. I didn't walk at a very fast pace either.

This really depends on where you're staying in Kidani. We walked from the employee parking lot to the Kidani lobby and it was definitely further then the distance from even lobby to lobby of BLT and CR.

If you're staying on the Jambo side of Kidani, maybe.

Our room at BLT was right by the south side elevator, so we were extremely close to the Contempo Cafe. On the other hand, we are about as far away from Jambo in Kidani as you can be. In my opinion, BLT is more convenient for quick service food overall.

Love the location. I spent so much time on the balcony that i didn't even notice what the inside looks like.

I think that's hilarious you brought your own shower head!! I thought we were the only ones who thought the shower heads were horrible! Like trying to take a shower with sewing needles for water. We found if you turn down the pressure a little, it helps, but then you're getting even less water from an already seriously low flowing shower head. I would never think to bring my own!

We stayed at a renovated OKW 2 bedroom before heading over to BLT, back in October. I have to say, we kind of missed OKW. One, for it's FAR superior shower heads, but two, for the space. Even though we were expecting it, going from the largest DVC 2 bedrooms to the smallest DVC 2 bedroom was a little eye opening, especially when you have a baby in a pack n play.
