BLT: The Good and The Bad

My MK view was on the 3rd floor and should have been designated a PL View(Parking Lot) because we had a perfect view of all the comings and goings in the parking lot. I won't use points for the MK view again.

Were you in 7326?

I understand your feelings ssawka. I just returned from my first BLT stay - studio MK view. 7428. So I was one floor higher but further around the building. The castle was just visible above the monorail but it could only be seen if you were at the very corner of the room or from the balcony. Space Mt. could be seen from the right hand side of the balcony or if you leaned out. Sorry but that is not MK view in my book if there are lake views that have exactly the same sort of set up. It was a Contemporary view.

Now, I did not consider it a bad view and did enjoy it but not for MK points.

I don't recall the room number. But facing the entrance it would have been just to the left of the drive up/drop off area. We could see part of the roof overhang. And lots and lots of asphalt!

We had a lake view last September, on the outer part of the "crescent" on the 11th floor. Lake view straight ahead, MK view to the left. I thought it was the best of both worlds. Much as I might enjoy the MK view at night for the fireworks, I'm one who likes to sit on the balcony in the morning with a cup of coffee; this worked much nicer with a lake view than it would have with a parking lot view. For this reason alone, I don't think I'd ever book a MK view room (and I'd have been perfectly content if I didn't have that MK view to the left - I just thought of it as a bonus.) I highly recommend the lake view - in my opinion, it's a much better point value.

We had the same type of LV room, on the sixth floor, outer crescent north side, and it sounds like we had a better view than KAT4DISNEY with the MK view. We could see Space Mountain from the sofa, and could see the castle while standing on the master balcony and looking left. We watched Wishes twice from our room and could see most of it fine. I really think they need to reassess the room views. I thought our LV was a great deal, and I would hesitate to spend points on MK view after reading some of these posts.

That must be 7328, because we were directly on the other side of the entrance, which really annoyed me, because the entrance support was blocking our view of the MK from the balcony.

Just an update to everyone that has been following this thread. I just got off the phone with Member Satisfaction regarding an email that I sent them with regards to the room we were assigned. I won't go into too much detail, but DVD made good in my eyes. :thumbsup2 The CM also said that they are in the process of examining the categories at BLT because there have been a number of complaints on the issue.

We just returned from our 1st trip as DVC members and stay BLT LV 1/31 - 2/3 in a studio. Our LV was just ok. It was more of a pool view. I don't remember the room number but we were on the 10th floor south tower. I was excited to think we could see the ELP but unfortunately we faced the opposite direction. We did have one minor problem. No blowdryer. We spent several hours waiting for one to be delivered (called numerous times). Finally my DH went down to the Community Hall and they were able to get one for us. They were happy to help. Anyway, we enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to Christmas in a one bedroom.

We are here now. We have a 1 bedroom lake view that is also more of a pool view. Not bad, but not what I thought it'd be. Not a problem though. When we got here, the drain in the sink was out and laying in the sink. My DH is pretty good with those things but it was broken. Called and maintenance fixed it. We also have a light switch by the kitchen that doesn't do anything. We've tried everything and it doesn't work anything. The insulation in this building is horrible. I woke up this morning and heard running water. My DH was still in bed so I thought my kids were in the room. Well, it was the unit above us. I'm telling you I would have sworn it was in our own bathroom it was that loud. I constantly hear people in the hallway and also outside. The electric water parade is very loud from inside. It's nice to hear, but is loud. Matter of fact, the sound just started. Can't see a thing from here, but get to hear it each night. The thing I got most upset about was when I went to do laundry this morning to find the hot water wasn't hooked up to the washer. I called and was told that it was supposed to be that way. I always do laundry while here and have never encountered that. When on earth did that change???? We also do not have sheets/blankets/pillows for the pullouts. The ice maker is loud but not enough to bother us.

Community hall - we were at Kidani in July and my 14 and 12 year old would take their 9 year old brother down to community hall with them occasionally. The community hall here said my son had to leave or produce a parent to stay with him. They said no one under 12 was allowed without a parent. The first night we got here, we all went and there were several that I'm sure were under 12. Each time they've tried since, they get sent back. I asked my girls if he was misbehaving and they said they didn't even get to do anything and were turned away as soon as they walked in. Has this rule changed as well? I agree some kids should not be allowed to roam without parents but he's very well behaved. Now I just go and sit and read a book while he wants to play. He is small for his age so maybe they think he's much younger???

Anyway, we're enjoying our stay and you really can't beat BLT for the closeness to Magic Kingdom. I'm not sure we'll spend the extra points to do it again, but it is nice and I'm glad we tried it. It's a beautiful resort.

We stayed at BLT last October. I agree with the pros and cons.
Location, decor, pool all super. Loved TOW, Electric Water Parade,
Monorail, being able to walk to MK. A lock on the bathroom door would be super. We had a 2 bedroom dedicated and having 3 bathrooms was the best.
We loved, loved and loved the Bay Lake view !

:cool1:

I have to agree on most of your points.......we also had a 2 bdrm lakeview lockoff room earlier in January with a very poorly equipped kitchen.......this was not just a few things missing. Our view was categorized as lakeview, but, I would say it was 50/50 between lake and MK view. We were 8th floor on the north side......the living room and master bdrm balcony had a view of the lake to the right and a dead on view of Space Mtn. The 2nd bdrm had a partial lake view and also a dead on view of Space Mtn. Our problem was the fact that we were assigned an ADA room and didn't request or need it. We didn't ask to be switched for a few reasons......#1 being ....I had requested an upper floor, even numbered room on the north side.....which we got.....so I didn't want to be "that guest". #2 being........when we checked in (about 11:30 a.m.) our room wasn't ready (however, the desk CM never mentioned we were being assigned an ADA room). About 2:00 p.m., my adult son began to feel ill (feverish, chills, and cold symptoms). We hadn't received a call yet about the room, so I called and asked if it was ready......I was told they were just finishing up and we could get in the room in about 15 minutes....great, the rest of us could stay in the park and only he would go over to BLT, take some cold medicine and have a nap.....which he did.....but, never took notice that it was an ADA room. When we got there several hours later it was the first thing I noticed .......since I'm 4' 11" and the kitchen counters were even too low for me.....never mind my 6' 2" husband!!! At that point, my son had already taken a nap in the room and I felt I couldn't ask to be changed, especially since all my other requests had been met. However, in the future, I WILL ask at check-in to make sure the room is NOT an ADA room........our week was very uncomfortable since we cook a lot and the kitchen area was extremely hard for us.
