I posted this in the BLT thread but didn't get a response yet, so I thought i would ask here instead. We have our first BLT stay In October in a Studio Lake View. My Mom is staying with us and we need a little more bathroom privacy than the "sink in the kitchen" for getting ready and changing clothes daily. I saw on here that some Studios are renovated and now have the sink in the bathroom. My question is - are all Studios updated now, or just some rooms and I would need to call MS and make a request for one of the renovated rooms?? Thanks for any help!!

Thanks DenLo! I thought about calling MS, but am not really confident that they would have the correct info.

We were at BLT in June of this year, we still had the original sink layout with the sink in the kitchenette area.

It was just hubby and I so there was no real need for privacy and honestly it wasn't a big deal to us having the sink across from the kitchenette area.

In case you wondered we were in a Standard Studio 7218

At check in I would request a studio that has made the bathroom change.

It seems as though they're over half-way done, but not completed. I had a completely unscientific poll about that here a few weeks back. More people had the new layout than old, but not all.

Room request is the way to go.

Am I reading this right? You are going to try to squeeze three adults and one (or is it two) smaller children into a BLT studio? Do you realize how small that villa is????

Someone is going to wind up dead in this situation. :scared1:

If your studio is a hotel room, and not your vacation destination - where you'll spend most of your time hanging out, a studio at BLT should be fine. We just had our 13 year old ganddaughter with us in a BLT studio in June, and it was not a big deal. It's where we slept, showered, and had a fast breakfast or snack. Sofa was closed up except at bedtime. I wouldn't waste my points for a 1 BR villa, unless I was doing meals in, or spending a lot of time "recreating" in the villa. If the traveling party includes your two children, you might want to rethink the studio, although it has been done by many others, I'm sure.

I've stayed in the studio, it's not all that bad. Is it extremely spacious no, is it doable yes. I've stayed in far more cramped places in other travels than a BLT studio. Trust me there's worse things in the world out there.

oh probably not the best solution - but you can use the bathtub for washing up and other things - think there is now a mirror here?

The sink out of the bathroom also gives more options... someone can be using the washroom/shower, another can brush their teeth etc.

We were in room 8132 in May and it has the new layout. There is still an area in the kitchen that I used for putting on my makeup while DH was in the bathroom. There is a mirror but no sink in the corner. I loved the location of this room. It was right around the corner from the elevator and it was a short walk to the restaurants and gift shops. We had a view of the Contemporary and the GF to the side.

Thanks guys for all the help!! Actually, most of you have it right - we are only in the room to sleep and that will be about it. I'm one of those "commando" type people and feel like I can sleep at home!! Lol! We're always in the park at opening and occasionally come back mid-day for a swim, then back to parks until close, so I'm not worried about the space issue. We used to do the same thing at POP before we bought DVC anyway. I might would have considered a one-bedroom, but my Mom going was a really recent thing. I got in BLT at the 7 month mark because we own at OKW, so I wasn't about to mess with that once my mom decided to join!! Lol!! Mom just likes to get completely ready in the bathroom, so the sink in the kitchen would be a little inconvenient and less private. I do smell an add-on in my future though as my little guys get big. A 1 bedroom will be nice then!! Thank you guys so much for all the advice though!! This is why I love the DISboards!! :)

Just so you know in advance you are going to less floor space in the studio than a room at Pop.

If your littlest one sleeps in the pack and play, you will have to put it in the hallway in front of the bathroom. And it will block the exit from the room. You may want to see if you might be able to get a one bedroom.

We spent a week in a studio at Christmas (Myself, DH, DS7 & DS3) and I had been really worried based on reports on the Dis.

We really thought it was great - no space issues at all. We were really pleased with the amount of space by the door, and it held all of our luggage really easily and would be perfect for a baby's pack n play cot.

My youngest is too old now, but had he still been a baby, we would have had no problem sleeping there with a cot and taking my mom along to share the pull out bed with our eldest son.

We ate breakfast in the room everyday, brought dinner back from the Contempo Cafe and found the sofa bed very easy to pull out and pack away during the day with no fuss at all.

Square footage isn't the be all and end all - The balcony makes a huge difference compared to the value resorts and gives you that bit of 'space' to get away from it all.

IMHO - Not only is the BLT studio bearable, it is actually very pleasant!!!

have a great time:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Just back from an awesome studio on the 6th floor. Lake view, but I could see the castle, space mountain and fireworks from my balcony! It was a remodel, so the kitchen had a sink and the bathroom had a sink. I think a tension rod with a sheet in the kitchen would give you another changing room? I thought the room was a great size and loved the separate kitchen area! Now, I am petite, I don't know if that makes things seem bigger, but I was there wth my 5'7" daughter and she thought it awesome too!

... I think a tension rod with a sheet in the kitchen would give you another changing room? ...!

I'm sorry, but that is the tackiest thing I have every heard of.

Just came back from a 7 night stay at BLT in a studio with 4 adults - me, DH, DD20 and DD16. We did not have any problems. All respect to Deb & Bill, but they scared the heck out of me when I posted my question about the room. We were in room 8009. It was fantastic. We had a view of EPCOT, the pool, Bay Lake...it was great. We had a bathroom with tub, toilet, sink. Then there was the kitchen. LOVED IT! It was an actual room...not an area.
We always stay in a studio, it may be small but it allows us to take more than 1 vacation a year. DH and I usually take the pullout, gives the girls more room - they aren't used to sharing a bed. The key is to fold up the pullout when you get out of it.
My whole family felt that there was more room in BLT studio, than our home resort of SSR. Truth be told, though, OKW has the larger rooms!
