BLT STUDIO - as small as a mouse's house

I gotta ask....what type of room were you in for the cruise.

I just don't understand all the whinging about the size of studios when the cruise rooms are SMALLER again and tighter...

YEAH! And there are also those hotels in Japan where everyone sleeps in a drawer. Wow, those BLT studios sure are spacious!

That's funny. I was thinking the same thing. Only these will be called the Villas at GF. With one big door for four slots. No way any one is going to exceed occupancy in those.

:lmao:

Call it the Haunted Mansion 40th anniversary studio - four coffins per room, and it plays Grim Grinning Ghosts all night.

Thanks everyone for your replies!!:lovestruc I am looking at buying more points in a couple of years;), so I could always borrow some for this trip and get the 1 bed if I really need to and then just use my add on for the next trip!!:goodvibes - just was hoping to save a few points as I know we won't use the kitchen what with paying for the DDP (which for us is ALOT of food!!:lmao:)

This is actually a really good point Queenie:thumbsup2 - after we leave WDW we will be in a Cat6 stateroom on the Wonder for a week with all our luggage - so I guess if we are managing on the ship then the BLT studio should be ok - right??:confused3:)

Many people do not like the smaller rooms of a cruise ship, so naturally they would not like the size of the BLT studios.

I really don't see why the comparsion. Most all cruise ships offer smaller accomidations.

I personally feel that since BLT was suppose to be a flapship property for DVC that they came up short, literally on the studios.

Flagship stateroom = BLT studio. So the studios are about the size of a cabin on a cruise, except the bathroom is bigger and you have a kitchenette.

And for the money and points that they want.....no way am I fitting more than two people in a BLT studio when I go. I have plenty of BWV points that I will gladly reserve a 1 or 2 bedroom with!! So glad to read a "real" perspective on the size. Glad I only bought 40 pts.

I was just grateful for the comparison as it kind of puts things into perspective for my particular situation :thumbsup2 - as after I leave my BLT studio, the four of us (and all our luggage!!:lmao:) will be heading for a DCL stateroom, so if we are happy to manage on the cruise ship then we should do just fine in a BLT studio too!:thumbsup2 - At least I hope we will do well in both, otherwise it will be a very long 13 days!!:rotfl:

Oh no...I have booked a 1 night in studio for 4 of us and DS has a wheelchair :eek:

We are staying at YC but just wanted to try BLT as was thinking of buying DVC there. Thanks for the comments..it seems like this will not work out as we would only be able to afford enough points for stays in a studio.

Thankfully will only have overnight bag as luggage will be at the YC.

I hope we enjoy it and it's not been a waste of $$$

Two people is all I would put in the BLT studio. Is it the same square footage as the Jambo "value" rooms?

I agree - trying to squeeze more than 2 people in a studio isn't a very good idea in my opinion. No place to really spread-out and relax..
:confused3

Yep, that's a stretch. Not a good comparison at all especially for the members.
A cruise is a full service vacation. They clean your room twice a day. You have free room service and the entire ship isyour livng room. Plus those cabins are some of the best designed in the industry. Storage everywhere and
Every square inch is maxxd.

We cruised 15 nights in a cat 10 last year and it felt much more spacious than our AKV value
studio. We had to store our luggage in the entry and very little space to unpack. We will stay in
a value again but not for more than a day or 2 before we move to concierge.

:scared1: This doesn't make me want to add-on at BLT. I love the monorail resorts, but I'm too claustrophobic to stay in a closet.

Even the Disney Cruise Line split bath has a sink in each compartment. Small - yes but a great design. I would not like purfumes, hair sprays, make up, deodorants, etc. in my kitchen. The hair factor is gross. :scared1:
I know it is just a fridge and microwave, but still.
Didn't realize that the bathroom had no sink at all. :confused3

Look to each their own.
I understand people are obsessed with space...good for you. It leaves the studios open for my family of 4 and our luggage. I paid in excess of US$400 a night to stay in a hotel room for 4 in the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel of much the same size. Sure it is a hotel that got serviced every day and was 5 star generally service...but I can quite manage to look after my own rubbish and the quality of the room furnishing appears to be quite good and the pool is far superior.
I also spent very little time in the room let alone the hotel as I was there to go to the PARKS. The room was a VERY convenient location to crash after dealing with the Japanese crowds

I am not staying at BLT to spend excessive time there. I am there for the location and the facilities BEYOND the room. The rest of the hotel like the cruise ship...is the extension of my lounge room....where is the difference???? It is all public space and you only get into the BLT is with a swipe card...so it is only fellow guests and friends of guests who let them in.

I have FAR more important things in life to worry about let alone the size of a room...as long as there are beds and a bathroom I'm happy. I can spread out in my house at home. While I'm on holiday I will have fun in the parks and spreading out in the rest of the hotel.

Queenie, I just LOVE that housework sig...may I steal it?:rolleyes1

Wow, Some of you really have issues with space!! I suppose I wouldn't want to spend weeks in a studio, but the more I see these threads the more I know my family of four will be fine in the studio. The room is 329sq ft. The Stateroom on the ship was 214. I think my family can manage with the extra 100 sq ft. We didn't even feel like the stateroom was small. :confused3 I guess we like each other!!:rotfl::rotfl:

The way I see it the only time the Studio will be a problem is when we have the bed pulled out. Since I don't plan on leaving it pulled out I would think the place would feel roomier than a value or Moderate and quite honestly when we stayed at the GF we weren't really impressed that the rooms were so much better. They still had a place to sleep a place to pee and a place to shower. The other studios also have the kitchenette right behind the sink (yes further away) but when I was blow drying my hair at BWV I could see my DH pouring coffee and he didn't freak about my hair flying across the room into his cup!

I am getting the impression there are some here who are room size snobs:snooty: I say if you would rather stay at any of the other DVC resorts for a few extra feet then more rooms for us to be closer to the Magic!!

But for some perspective her are Square feet for studios:
BWV = 416
BCV = 356
SSR = 355
VWL = 365
OKW = 376
AKV Jambo Value = 316
AKV Jambo/Kidani = 366

and the itsy bitsy BLT studio = 329

Yeah I think a max of 87 to a minimum of 26 sq ft difference is worth giving up a Monorail and MK/LV view. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just saying......

Red headed stepchild, VGC: 379

As for the WDW DVCs, I'd gladly have more space and be within walking distance of Epcot (BCV). It's almost like everyone has their own likes and priorities...

Beach club has SAB! That is definitely something to think about! But for 27sq ft and about 7 years difference I think I will stick to BLT for a few trips. We will know more once we stay there. It may be a novelty. We haven't tried BCV and would like to, but it won't be the room size pushing me over to try it. It will be SAB and the short walk to Epcot. Every resort has a drawback. I don't think any of the DVC's are perfect at all. They all have their pros and cons. Maybe that is why it appeals to so many different people. I don't think BLT is better than any of them, just offers different things that are important to me. I like Monorail and I like view of my favorite park and the sounds of the boats on the lake. I like the 4th floor of the Contp for food choices and shopping and just a great Disney feel. But the other all have other great things about them. Thats what I love about DVC... we can try them all!

You sound a little defensive, Cmbar.... you put a lot of time into that post ;). Trust me: these rooms are quite small, and feel smaller than they are due to a variety of odd design decisions. I know small - we live in a 600 sf apartment. However, if you think they'll work for you over the long haul, more power to you! I certainly plan to stay in a studio again there on occasion.
