BLT Standard Room Requests

I was wondering what I should request when booking a standard view at BLT. Are there any rooms that have been reassigned to Standard view that were originally MK or Lake view?

Disney is known for stretching the room categories, if you can see a little bit of water through the trees, they will call it a lake view.

That being said, they wouldn't change room categories and re-balance point charts unless they really had to. Expect standard view rooms to have an obscured view and hope for the best.

Thank you. I wouldn't want to request a specific room, but I was wondering if there was a section of the resort that might have better views than others (in the Standard Views..) For example, upper floor, away from elevator.. something like that. I've never stayed at a Standard View room in BLT.. Any advice you could give me would be great! Thanks!

That thread that graychef linked is extremely valuable. Read through at least the first page and look at the pics people posted.

As far as your request, it depends what you want. The standard view rooms only go up to the 5th floor. A while ago some MK view rooms were reclassified as standard views so there is a chance to see some of the Magic Kingdom.

We had a MK view 2 bedroom lock off that has since been reclassified as standard view. It was on the 3rd floor. Our view was decent. Still kind of annoyed that I use points for MK view and now it's standard...

When we stay standard at BLT we always request "North Side, near Elevator" then we get a chance to have a MK view along with parking lot

I am probably in the minority but I always request first floor. I especially like the marina view. It's very nice to be able to walk in and out at will - no elevators etc. and I kind of like sitting on the porch and being able to walk over to the water if I feel like it.

1st floor - yuck

There are no shams on the windows so if you open the curtains everyone walking by can see right in your room.
