BLT selling out???

I am looking into buying into DVC. We just returned from a trip to WDW stayed at The Poly for 7 nights in April. I have 3 children and we had a blast! We see ourselves going to Disney at least every two years in the future. The plan is to go back in 2012 so buying right now doesn't make sense. We are planning on buying in March 2011. We are mostly interested in BLT due to the easy access to the monorail. I just talked to a rep on the phone and she told me that it wont be available at that time. In fact, she said they will likely sell out by this September? Any thoughts on that...??

Our guide told us the same thing... that they anticipate the resort will sell out by the end of this summer. However, you will still have resales available, so if this is not the right time to purchase for your family, then it is best to wait. There will be memberships available, even if not directly from Disney.

First off WELCOME to the DIS. It could be true about selling out. You just have to wait and see I guess BLT is very popular. But just keep your ear to the DIS and watch what everyone is saying. They said the AKV was going to sell out by the end of last year. It still hasn't

Last I heard, they hadn't declared half the inventory to be sold, which means that half the points aren't even available to buy yet. It might be a little over half by now, but not much. AND they've been running better incentives for AKV, SSR and VGC in an effort to speed those sales and slow down BLT. So I have a hard time believing that in the next 10 months they'll sell all the declared inventory AND all the undeclared inventory. I suppose it's possible if they really crank up the incentives to reposition for the Hawaii resort to go on sale...but I doubt it.

Even still, you can always watch the market and buy in a little sooner than planned if you are worried about a sell-out.

I don't believe it will sell out by the end of summer unless DVC offers some huge incentives. There's still approx 25% left to even be declared into inventory and maybe 60% has been sold since it started sales 1.5 years ago.

And, if it "sell out" thru disney there will be resales.

Or even another tower, or one somewhere else, like Poly, GF, you never know. but those would both be HUGE for profits.. and Disney does profits. I promise they will not stop selling DVC.

When we bought in April they didn't offer up that it would sell out soon.

I imagine that's just a sales tactic.

And the other poster is right - there will always be resales.

If sales were really closing in on completion, would Disney be offering discounts on the points / and or the cruise as an incentive at BLT?

They better have something (ON-property) in the works that none of us knows anything about. Lest we not forget that there is NO new DVC development (or anything else, for that matter except the new announcement at Pop) going on. DVD left with no property to sell on-site. Yea right. That's RICH!

I remember threads on here a year ago predicting the imminent unavailability of BLT being predicted by the guides in less than 3 months. Wasn't true then and it isn't true today.

From the best I can tell, it's taken them 18 months to sell approximately 1/2 the points. Unless something in this economy breaks significantly in a positive direction, it's pretty easy to do some guesstimating math and to probably be pretty accurate in your own predictions.

Sales are a matter of public record. There are guys right here on these boards that are all over top of what's being sold and the rates they're being sold.

Last year, when everybody was saying it would be gone in 3 months, I was saying at least 24 more (do a search). I'm sticking to my guns until I'm proven wrong.

I agree, but if that's what it takes, then I guess I'll take some of those free points. Someone's gotta do it.

They are still selling SSR! You have another year, maybe two.

After that BLT owners will be actively selling on the resale market, I know that we will.

Just sales talk, At the rate they are selling it will be well into 2011 before there is any chance of selling out (unless they give a huge discount)
