tried of people saying that there is no theme at BLT.

so this is for them - what would you change. Kept in mind this has to fit the theme of Cr AND tomorrowland at the MK.

instead of complaining - say what you would have done differently.

this is basically for the outside of the resort.

now would liked the studio to be bigger myself - but that did not happen.

so what if you were designing this resort would you have done different.

Hmmm... I never really thought about it too much. Like many other people you can't beat the location and I have only stayed at one other DVC resort, OKW and I wasn't impressed and couldn't wait to check into BLT the remainder of my stay... BUT... If they were gearing this resort towards tomorrowland which is mostly space oriented rides maybe they could have made rooms more like outer space... Twinkling stars on the ceilings, make you feel like your room is the headquarters of a space station... Maybe something like that. Even add in some buzz light year type stuff.

I knew going in that BLT was much like the CR so I was never disappointed. I personally love it, but like I said hypothetically if they were going to overhaul the place I think space themed would be nice... Spaceship Earth too.

We like the modern decor and it fits with CR, watch a lot of HGTV and that decor is very common on remodeling homes and on House Hunters, Love it List etc. But certainly its not for everyone.

Having a wall of windows facing the MK area WAS the theming for us.

I bet that view was beautiful at night with all the lights! I am going to be staying at BLT this Sept. with a theme park view. I was excited before but, after seeing the picture you posted I can't wait!

I do understand how people like all the heavily disney themed resorts, I know I definitely do. But, I also think it's nice to have resorts like BLT and CR. I like the modern look to the BLT villa.

I do like the ideas that oneprincessjo had. Especially, the twinkling stars on the cieling! :thumbsup2

I wouldn't change anything about BLT. I think the structure is very pretty and the deocor inside is consistent to CR's deocor. However, I may be a little biased because BLT is one of our home resorts, it is actually the first resort that we bought into because we loved the look of it and the proximity to MK, plus CR is DH's favorite resort.

It's my fave :)

I showed pics of AK, WL and BLT to dd3 (yeah, I know she's three, but I couldn't decide where to stay) and she picked BLT hands down. She said she loves the colors and the little mickeys. Beat out giraffes (and that's HUGE!). So theming is truly in the eye of the beholder. I like it because of the clean lines and lack of kitschy junk ;)

BLT will always be popular given location and modern style but IMO does not really have much of a "theme". Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice place but my preference is just for a stronger theme. Contemporary resort in its day was viewed as extremely futuristic (design, monorail etc.)and in today's world I do not think BLT compares. I like idea of a space theme, or a non-tacky star wars (if that is possible) or something more high tech (e.g. some new modern hotels rely more heavily on advanced technology for lighting, opening shades etc.). I think Disney played it a bit safe but agree that BLT is very tastefully done.

I loved my stay at BLT, but I understand why people say it has no theme. It is a very nice resort; but I have stayed at non-Disney resorts that feel very similar to BLT, at least if you keep the drapes closed. For me the magic of BLT lies outside the windows. (Comparing the 1 BR to other DVC resorts, I actually prefer BLT .)

Yep-the first resort stay that we never closed the blinds. Actually with lights out and the drapes open-it was even better.

opening shades etc.

Would have been a waste in our room.

We never closed ours-left them open all night long. MK was too awesome to look at-even from the king bed. There were no other rooms that could look in, plus it was December so it didn't get light that early.

Seriously, the walls could have been concrete with exposed duct work (actually that style is in as well) we wouldn't have cared-or even noticed. I do remember the kitchen and bath looked great, and the beds had white luxury spreads instead of the usual multi colored stain hiders.

To everyone that says BLT has no theme, outside of akv and wlv is any resort really themed?

I just came back from bcv. While it was really nice didn't feel like I was really a the beach. Blue green and white colors and a few pictures of the beach did t make the beach

Stayed at SSR and been to the real Saratoga springs NY many times. Yes it had pictures an decor with horses but didn't really feel like I was in Saratoga springs

Stayed at wl not villa and that
seemed themed. Haven been to akv but pictures look like you could feel like you are in Africa. The rest of the resets to me are just variations of each other. Personal feel like bcv, On my way! And bwv are all he same just different color schemes and pictures. All are nice though

Personally like BLT. Not decorated like my house but enjoy it will I am there. And you can never go wrong with castles and monorails!!!

Definitely - hey love Space Mountain.

CR and BLT can be seem from the MK - so they definitely need to blend it w/tomorrowland

you can also see them from the train a few times.

I think the building and grounds are pretty. I wouldn't want the room decor in my home but I do like it while on vacation. I wouldn't mind taking some of the artwork home with me though. The lake view is beautiful as well as the theme park view. We have been lucky enough to have a great view of the castle on a couple of trips and what better way to go to sleep then with a view of the castle.

Whenever I ask DD where she wants to stay, it is always BLT. I have over ruled her a couple of times to stay at AKV and she LOVES the animals there but BLT still wins out. We have stayed at SSR because that was the only place I could get at 4 months but she still prefers BLT. I have showed her pictures of the other resorts and she still picks BLT so I'm going to have to over rule her periodically to try some other resorts, although I have a hard time because I just really like BLT too.

. . . .

I love BLT but after riding the monorail home sometimes and seeing into all those rooms that people left their drapes open with the lights on was pretty embarrassing seeing folks in their underwear or even naked walking around or seeing people undress. You could see all the way into the bathroom in the master bedroom.

Those windows that face the monorail are like TV screens for those riding the monorail. It was definitely not G rated viewing. It definitely takes some of the magic out of coming to our DVC home. I think they need to put warnings on the glass doors-- "If you leave your drapes open when your lights are on you are providing a show to others."

This is one of the reasons I wish they would put sheers on the windows for privacy and so that during the summer when afternoon sun is so hot we can just close the sheers and still have some daylight in the room.

I thought sheers were starting to be added to the rooms after complaints? I swore that was mentioned at one of the DVC meetings. So no rooms have the sheers?

Just saw description and pics of new Grand Floridian DVC rooms which had mirror TV's in bathroom. That would have been perfect for modern BLT theme.

You can make your stay at BLT. The surroundings are excellent to it.
you can see the beauty with the pic that are posted in the thread.

no that I know of - yet.
really wish they would put window screen (plastic sheets) especially for those people who might forget to close their curtains.

that say - mostly now the monorail stops so that most of it does not see inside the BLT - plus it does have screens on its windows.

There is a theme to BLT. Unfortunately the theme is pretty bland - a contemporary hotel. Some people like that, some don't. That's why Disney has lots of other places to try. I'd hate for them to decide to re-theme it to be just like one of the other resorts.
