Let me preface by saying sorry if this is a silly question.

We are looking to buy into DVC within the next year (two at the most) my DH loves the accommodation and convenient location of BLT. So I have been looking at the resales but I was curious at to why so many are already selling their contracts with BLT :confused3? Why would someone do that after just buyin in?

Are there some that go directly to resale? Or I was thinking maybe is someone who bought in just for the incentive (although that would be a ridiculous waste of time and energy just for an incentive).

Just curious as to what you all think....... :goodvibes

Most likely something changed in their financial situation.. It doesn't make much sense to take a loss on the points to me for any other reason. Even if they didn't like BLT, they wouldn't need to use their points to stay there.

I agree with rsimon - probably a change in financial situation or perhaps a divorce. Doubt it has anything to do with the DVC product itself.

"The sense of regret after having made a purchase. It is frequently associated with the purchase of big-ticket items such as a car or house. It may stem from a sense of not wishing to be wrong, of guilt over extravagance, or of suspecting having been 'snowed' by a sales associate." -Wikipedia

I think that this is a contributing factor for those that try to sell any timeshare (DVC or otherwise) shortly after a purchase, regardless of their financial situation. Maybe they had too much sun and one too many mai-tai's in Hawaii or too much pixie dust in Orlando and regret it when they get home.

Not me, though. I own at BLT and it is an "investment" in fun!

That's what I was thinking but I was shocked at short time for these! Buyer's remorse is a horrible thing to feel......bad sad to say I would love to capitalize on someone's bad decision, help the get out of their "bad spot" and help my LO's enjoy the magic of the world. <------ :scared1: I can't believe I said that!

I must say, the BLT models we seen were beautiful. I am desciding on where our home resort should be, but I will probably buy a resale of BLT in the future.

I also wonder if they are people who may have gotten more points than they wanted when BLT first went on sale with the intention of selling some off later.

At one point, you could get BLT for as low as $92/ppt if you reached a certain level. If someone bought a lot of points and had them put in to smaller contracts, they may be just selling out some of their points.

Even with commission, if they used the contract a few times, they could have ended up okay.

We fell in  with it too. We are going between BLT and BWV. BLT obviously has a lot more time left in it but we do really love being next to Epcot and HS plus we really like the set up, pools and atmosphere of BWV. Ack, decisions, decisions!

Good points Sandi!! I didn't think of that.

I know a close friend of mine is trying to sell her contracts from BLT. She bought never expecting a medical situation to arise. It's sad she is just looking to have the loan paid off and just walk away. She has tried everything but just can't afford the payments anymore.

Many buy without knowing what they are getting into and most don't do any research or don't even know about resale. After the DVC presentation they are all caught up in the Disney magic and make an emotional purchase. Later they find out that there purchase wasn't as expected or that they miss understood the Guide during the presentation.

Bottom line, it just doesn't make sense to be a owner so they sell.

:sad1: I'm so sorry for your friend and I truly hopes that she finds someone to by her points quickly.

I am going to resell some of my BLT points because i just bought too many.

This was my first thought, being an owner that was lucky enough to buy in at $92 per point. Resales have not hit anywhere near that level yet.

Yep, this is exactly why I did not attend a presentation or tour. I talked to my brother, who at the time was an owner. I also rented some of his points for one trip. And then did research on the DIS. After all of that, we bought and didn't have to sit through a sales pitch. :thumbsup2

Ditto for me too.

We had been researching DVC for about 4 years before we bought in (cue the "We should have bought sooner" quote).

The guide had the easiest sale he ever had because he didn't have to do anything when we showed up except walk us through the models. DW and I had just about everything covered before we showed up.
