We have caught a case of add-onitis, and are looking to add more to our current BLT contract (200pts, Feb UY). We have been looking at adding 100pts, and stay in the same UY. I have been going back and forth on a contract that has 150pts for 17 (50 banked from 16), and 100 for 18. Buyer is responsible for this years fees. The lowest they will go is $120/pt. We will probably rent the 150 points, as we don't need them this year. I've tried to compare this contract to others, but this one has extra points. Thoughts? Good deal or wait?
Thanks!

That doesn't sound like extra points to me. Or did you mis-type the 200pts contract? I think that's too high.

We currently have 200, and the contract in question is a 100pt contract, with 50 banked from last year.

Who is paying for the 2016 banked MF's 50 points? If they are that 50 points X $14.00 = $700.00. THat would bring it down to $113 a point. Good deal!

Buyer is only responsible for the 2017 fees. You're figuring that as renting them for $14/pt?

Yes that is the rate for a BLT rental if you have the 7-11 month rental window.

I agree...if you are going to get some rental income off the points, then getting it down to $113 is a pretty good deal.

Honestly...BLT seems to be hovering around $110-$115 these days. I'd hold out for a better deal.
That was kind of my thought. If the net price would be around $110, I'd take it. I made an offer on another contract that only had 53 2017 points, but they won't budge below $108. I think $105 would be reasonable for this contract that doesn't have full points. I wish I needed more points, because there are a lot of 160pt contracts going for around $100 (with 0 2017 points)

Sometimes it's easy to concentrate on the price/pt and not think about what it means in actual cost. The difference between what you think and what they think on this is $300. Is it worth it to keep looking for that difference and trying to get the best deal possible or us the $300 an acceptable difference for getting it and not looking anymore?

It is relatively similar to the first deal once you consider the difference in points.

Yes, you're right. I do tend to over-analyze things. We all want to get the best deal, but in the end it is only a few hundred dollars.

If it truly works for you long term I'd likely seriously consider it. We're talking a few hundred $$$ difference even if you find a better deal. And finding a better deal that's the right number of points and UY might be slightly difficult. OTOH, there will be other contracts. Certainly if it's not the perfect number of points long term, one could keep looking or simply offer a little less.

If you are not in a hurry for some reason, just offer what you want to pay. The seller can say no or counter. If the seller says no, you are no worse off and can just keep looking.

FWIW, I agree with Kat4Disney. if the use year and numb of points works for you, I wouldn't fuss over the extra $300. (And maybe the seller won't either). :teeth:

Well, procrastination screwed me. I lost the contract that had banked points, and now the seller of the other contract is sticking to his full price ($116 for 53 2017 points, 100 2018). There's no question that their asking price is WAY too high. Time to keep stalking the listings!
