BLT Pool hopping

Yes we do go twice a year, however in the past we have priced out the cost to join DVC and it did not make any sense for us.

You may want to take a look at DVC again. Not sure when you did last? However, staying Atrium Club 2x per year is definitely more expensive than joining DVC.

Hey, and that way you can use BLT pool anytime you like!

I just think in this situation since both the Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower are both adjacent to each other it's weird telling one set of guests they swim there, but they need to tell the other guests no. Also on the pool hopping topic if a non DVC member is staying at Bay Lake Tower and they got a room with CRO, does that mean they can not swim at the Contemporary pool? Or is not considered to the pool hopping since they claim anyone staying at Bay Lake Tower can swim there. Finally I am sure we can agree if the Contemporary was closed for whatever reason wouldn't they tell anyone they can swim at Bay Lake Tower, since it's right there and it's easier then going to the Polynesian.

I also find it weird how in the descriptions I read about Bay Lake Tower that they claim to be sharing ammenities with the Contemporary such as transportation and etc which they need to since Bay Lake Tower won't have it's own, but they can deny Contemporary guests access to the Bay Lake Tower pool.

Just speculation here but I'm sure that DVC pays Contemporary a "usage" fee for acess to the amenities which is reflected in the MF. I doubt that DVC is getting anything from the CRO resort for use of their amentites. So this is where "fairness" comes into play...money is being exchanged somewhere between the child companies.

Which fee's do you think they are paying the Contemporary for, because stuff like transportation has always been free since anyone can ride the buses, boats and monorails without staying onsite. So I guess that only leaves out the Contemporary pool unless there is something else I am missing.

Transportation, housekeeping, dining facilities, recreational facilities are always part of the DVC budget for each resort.

The guests of the CR don't pay a fee directly to use the monorail or pool, but those costs are part of the fee they pay for their room. Same with DVC. Members' dues pay for the use of the buses, upkeep of the grounds, lifeguard salaries, front desk salaries, utilities, etc.

Well based on what you said wouldn't the DVC member fee's only pay for stuff at Bay Lake Tower, with the exception of the transportation since it's shared between both locations. I read online they plan to build a restaurant or something there, so I don't see their fee's going to the California Grill, Chef Mickey's, The Wave and the Contempo Cafe. Also does that mean their fee's would not go towards the Contemporary pool or would they, if they are allowed to use it?

You'd be surprised what the budget requires DVC to pay. At any resort where there are shared facilities (like Stormalong Bay at BC/YC/BCV) dues will pay for those. So BLT members may be paying something for the California Grill, Chef Mickey's and the rest. Right now the dues are fairly low, but I expect them to go up once the resort is fully sold out.

As we all know what they say, and what they do is not the same thing. Good grief they can't keep off site guests out of the pools, do we really have any hope they can keep other Contemporary guests out, I seriously doubt it.

For every ticket sold a percentage goes to Disney transportation, same with room rates. Nothing is free at Disney World.

You cannot make a logical comparison from a restaurant which is open to the public, transportation which is open to Disney resort guests and a pool which is resort specific. The rules are the rules that one cannot pool hop other than DVC (for the most part). There are however no rules that someone from another hotel cannot go to any of the restaurants at CR nor is there any rule that a non-CR guest (who is staying at a Disney resort) cannot use bus/monorail CR transportation.

It's nearly sounding as if there's some annoyance now that rules may apply to CR guests which weren't there before the new DVC BLT tower in respect to the possible allowance to use a DVC pool or not but there's always been the rule of no pool hopping.

Crystal, that's interesting because I see absolutely no way they will be able to tell the difference between a member who is staying on points or a renter staying on points - nor should there be any difference, in my opinion. If you are renting points to stay at BLT, what pool do they think you will use then :confused3

Plus, in my experience (when I have previously rented points) the room key has DVC Member printed on it so even if you had to show your room key, there is nothing to show you are renting :confused3

Yeah, I thought it was a very odd statement too, but that's what he said when he showed us the concept drawings of the pool and club/lounge when we toured. If Disney is able to somehow enforce that policy, that would make renting points at BLT much more difficult which would be unfortunate. :scared:
