I just came back from my first visit to BLT for 6 nights in a studio from April 10 to 16th. While my wife and I are DVC members, we don’t own at BLT but we were lucky enough to capture a Magic Kingdom view at the 7 month window. I’m going to break this report into several posts so I can load the photos in sections - that should make things less stressful and more convenient for me.

While we had already checked in on-line, our room wasn’t ready until 4:45. The good news is we walked into a spectacular 12th floor view from room #8218. Here’s the mandatory views from our balcony (yes, these are the mandatory balcony photos required to qualify for any respectable trip report).

Here's our magnificent view looking straight out. As far as the parking lot below, my wife suggested they cover it with the same type of "living lawn" thatched roof that they use on the Norway cottage in Epcot. This would keep the cars cool in summer (like the parking under the building at AKV) and would also provide for a fabulous enhanced view! Our conversation ended when I suggested that my wife donate this wonderful parking roof to the BLT view.

I must confess that it was the ultimate childhood fantasy waking up to this view every morning:

Looking to our left we saw the Grand Floridian:

And looking to our far left we saw the Contemporary, Monorail & Polynesian:

Here's a couple of photos of our studio:

The weather was gorgeous - a high of 80 degrees ever day with absolutely NO HUMIDITY and almost no rain. I'm convinced that late Apr/early May and October are the 2 best times of the year to visit Disney World. One of the very pleasent surprises at BLT was this serene little beach area behind the pool. I spent many a relaxing visit there with my feet firmly embedded in the cool, comforting sand.

My next post of the BLT grounds should be uploaded later this morning.

Best wishes,
David

Thank you for sharing your great photos....we are staying at BLT for 3 nights starting on 4/27!! We have a lake view....cannot wait!! And I agree with your late April/May and October as the best months to go for weather!! Looking forward to your next installment!!

beautiful:thumbsup2
we were thinking of trying out BLT next year, and your pix cinched it.

btw, we agree: we go the first weeks of may (just 13 days to go) and october every year for the low crowds and absolutely gorgeous weather:cloud9:

enjoy your stay!!

Already lovin' your report.

We stayed at the BLT last fall in a 1 bedroom and your report is bringing back nice memories. :)

Thanks for the photos, especially.

This place is incredibly beautiful and definitely very impressive:

As far as BLT’s proximity to the Magic Kingdom, I was surprised to find the walk to MK felt like it's about 15 minutes at an average pace - approximately 12 minutes for speed walkers.

While I can get from Beach Club to the International Gateway at Epcot in a few minutes, the walk from BLT to Magic Kingdom seemed similar to the walk from Boardwalk to Hollywood Studios.

And if you take the monorail, you have to take the BLT elevator to the fifth floor, then you have to cross the high velocity wind shear tunnel (oh, I’m sorry - I meant to say the skywalk to the Contemporary - LOL). Next, you have to take an elevator to the 4th floor to get to the Monorail. After that, the Monorail stops at the Ticket and Transportation Center, then the Polynesian, then the Grand Floridian and finally the Magic Kingdom.

Personally, I find the relaxing boat ride from VWL is more convenient and refreshing way to reach the Magic Kingdom (Shields Up - Flame Suit ON!)

In all fairness, it's just a minor detail and certainly doesn't distract from this unbeatable location!

The water slide at BLT is absolutely terrific! It's a hard corkscrew with real good speed and a delicious mean kick - fabulous!

The pool also has a zero entry area and is well designed for a great time for everyone. Plenty of room to catch the sun, or just relax or have a blast in the water:

My next section will be on equally beautiful "Contemporary" sister hotel to the BLT. I hope to have that section completed by tonight or tomorrow morning.

Best wishes,
Dave

walked to both MK from BLT, and BWV from studio.

to me MK from BLT is about half the time - BWV from studio. of course also walk slow - old age does that to you mostly....

love your pictures. really love BLT - it is pretty wonderfully - my opinion!

Thanks for sharing your photos, we were in 8018 the week after BLT opened in August last year. Your photos bring back wonderful memories.

We didn't find it took that long walking to MK and back though more like 15 minutes at a slowish pace pushing a wheelchair too.

Speechless. All I can say to this is . Can't wait for more.

Besides the bathroom/kitchenette set up - did you feel a noticable difference between BLT and other DVC studios? Some have talked about "feeling" the size difference. Could you? Curious. Thanks.

Your photos are great! I was not impressed with BLT or the Contemporary but your photos have me taking a second look at BLT for our next trip.

Thank you so much for the wonderful pics!! They are making me so home sick.;) since i'm not sure when we will be back at BLT. My family is into trying as many as possible right now. AAHHH! Keep them coming.

Imagine sliding into that net!

Thanks for the pictures. Glad to hear you got BLT at 7 months . We are hoping to do the same thing next April.

Or something close. That's one great view. How did you like the studio???
