I am seeking some help.

DH and I (it is just the 2 of us) usually go to WDW for FWF in late October. The last few years I have really, really wanted to see the Christmas celebrations. He cannot take vacation time both times. SO today when talking about the 7 month window opening up soon for October he suggested that we wait and go either the weekend after Thanksgiving (Fri-Sun) or just after Christmas but before NYE (maybe Sun- Wed). We are thinking that Thanksgiving would be best but I would love some imput. Crowds, Christmas feel, availability?

Also, we have stayed at VWL before and I loved it. (It was a very humid July and DH felt the dense follage was adding to the humidity at the villas. It wasn't that he did not like VWL but said he would not want to go again during the summer.) A close friend of mine went for Christams this year and said the VWL lobby was beautiful, BUT we have never stayed at BLT and I want to try it soon. I know resorts are usually personal preference but which do you think will be easier to book at 7 months and which would provide a "Christmas-y" experience?

We own at both resorts and there are more holiday decorations at WL/VWL.

Go the week after Thanksgiving. The week between Christmas and New Year's is crazy busy - it's the absolute busiest week for the parks! (And the highest cost for DVC rooms, too).

We just got back from a 6 night stay that started on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. We did non-park things (incl dinner at Cali Grill and the ICE! display at the Gaylord Palms) on Saturday and went to the parks and special Holiday events the rest of the time. Not very busy at all, and the fantastic decorations, the Candlelight Processional, Osborne Lights and MVMCP are all available at that time.

It's one of our favorite times to go. We alternate that time with an October F&F trip so we get to do both regularly. I have the same problem with time off as your DH. :)

I would go the weekend before Thanksgiving. The lack of crowds were wonderful.
Also, VWL is very nice with Christmas decorations.

You'll need to call exactly at 7 months out to even have a chance at getting VWL for the holiday time. Lots of owners book there at 11 months out because of the decorations.

Especially when it's just DH and I, we split stay. In June 2008, we split stay VWL and CR.

For Christmas, definitely VWL but if your itching to try BLT, then do both!!!

We just came back from staying at VWL. We stayed the first week of January when it was record cold. VWL seemed cozy and warm. At nite DH and I sat down by the fireplace with a bottle of wine. We had a 2 bedroom.
