The options are making my mind spin. I want to stay EVERYWHERE LOL.

I think we have finally decided to rent points, and stay at either BLT or Wilderness Lodge in a 2 bedroom villa. Trip will be in May 2013. We will have a still napping almost 3 years old, and a 5 year old, as well as my dad.

Looks like for basically the same number of points, we can stay at BLT (assuming it is available) or Wilderness Lodge. We would have a standard view at BLT, not a theme park or lake view.

It seems to me like Wilderness Lodge will have better theming, but that BLT is a more convenient location.

Gah! Help me decide! Pros and cons for either!

You almost always need the 11 month booking window to get std view at BLT which would have been June 2012.

I would look into what you can get as it might make the decision easier :thumbsup2

That would be fantastic if you could do that. I was looking at renting through david's but it looks like a bit of a process to find out availability before I'm sure what we want to do.

I had heard about the 11 month thing....

We are looking at May 4 - 11, 2012

TIA!

The seven-month window is about to open, so I can almost guarantee you there are no standard view Villas left.

As somebody who has travelled that week the last 2 years, BLT will be tough but you might have success with a lake view room. It also depends on what size villa you are looking for. VWL may be tight as well as it is popular and a small resort. I would have some back up resorts in mind. BCV will be difficult, BWV a bit easier, and most likely no difficulty at AKV, OKW, or SSR.

Having stayed at both BLT and VWL with two toddlers, I would prefer BLT for ease of transportation and the walk to the MK and monorail to Epcot. You don't say what size villa but I would not consider BLT if you plan on staying in a studio (I personally wouldn't consider a studio at all for your party). BLT has 2 full bathrooms in the 1 bedroom units and 3 in the 2 bedroom units. If you plan to all stay in one room and want a monorail resort on a budget I would look into the CR garden view wing rooms, 2 real queen beds and a daybed. Ask any questions you need to. Like I said previously, I have stayed in both with two toddlers.

We are looking for a 2 bedroom villa.

Guess I better get on booking :)

Yes, get booking. We were able to get a 2 bedroom villa at VWL for your week in 2011 at the 7 month window. BLT was full but as I said before, if you can swing a lake view, your odds are much better. Good luck!

How important is the pool to you? That was always the most important thing for my boys...especially the slide. The WL slide/main pool is nice, and your youngest should be able to use the slide pretty much by their own (help from sibling). The BLT slide is steep and windy, and not great for younger kids.

We ended up choosing AKV-Kidani for our next trip. They have my favorite pool for both younger and older kids. Plus you can also visit/use the Jambo house pool. Not to mention the animals...

BLT is my favorite from a location/decor standpoint. WL is my favorite overall resort, with AKL a close second/third. I have never stayed in WL villas, but compared to BLT and AKL, the pictures make it look a bit dated. If you are using the fold out couch/chair, I heard that they are much better (maybe newer) at AKV Kidani and BLT.

Good luck! Can't go wrong with any of them!

We loved BLT this May and are returning next May with my parents, my husband and I, and our daughters (5 and 7). We had the 1 bedroom villa this year when it was just us and the kids. We have the 2 bedroom villa reserved since my parents will be with us next time. Everyone will have space (and a bathroom; there are 3 FULL baths in the 2 bedroom villa!). We saved a lot of money and time eating breakfast in the full kitchen (and some dinners when we were back at the resort for a swim break in the afternoon), and it would be good for naps since the space is well divided (my kiddos do not nap, sigh).

We did not do points because we need to have the flexibility to cancel if needed, but we did sign up for AAA, because that gave us 20% off the rack rate for the 2 bedroom villa. The AAA membership cost me $52 or so for one year, and it saved over $1500 on the room. I am still calling every few days to see if something opens up with the military discount (40% off) but so far, no luck. So if points are not possible, AAA might make it workable. These rooms are limited like all the other discounted rooms at WDW, so book away. We got Lake View. MKV was not available, and I didn't ask about standard view.

I will edit this post to link the other thread where I explained how I got a discount on my AAA membership.

The location of BTL is so wonderful for small kids, or going back and forth to the parks for a nap or swim break. It was fantastic!!
