We are planning a trip for Marathon weekend 2012 in a studio. This will be our first time with a baby and DD will be almost 9 months old at the time of our trip. DH will be running the Half Marathon. Would you recommend trying to book at BLT or BWV/BCV? If it wil just DH and I we would stick to the Epcot area, but with the baby I'm not sure if BLT makes more sense? Thanks for any insight and suggestions! :)

We booked BLT when my DDiL was set to do the 1/2 marathon, but she injured herself and didn't run. The location was wonderful, however, so if you can book BLT, do it!

At that age, I don't think the child will care about the location or extra bathroom in BLT 1BR+. I would choose the location closer to the parks and restaurants you visit most. Especially with a stroller, its much, much easier using a boat or monorail than a bus.

Now if you were talking about a 2yo boy, he may think the monorail going into your resort is the coolest thing ever, but you got time;)

The Epcot resorts are not convenient for the half marathon. You won't see anything of the race from them. Go for BLT because your husband can catch the monorail to the start.

We went over Thanksgiving with our son who was 10 months old at the time and stayed at BLT and loved the location. Buses are kind of a pain because if they are asleep you have to wake them up to take them out of the stroller. I guess though it depends on which parks you are going to spend the most time in. Have fun whatever you decide!

Given that your child is 9 months old, I think you should stay where it is most convienent for you.

However, I would say.... Try and stay at BLT.

I don't know if you are going to a park, but if you do, you can load up the stroller, and walk to the magic kingdom in ~ 10 minutes.

There you can take about a zillion pictures of your childs first visit!!!

I agree with pick whichever is most convenient for you. At that age, my daughter enjoyed the rides at EPCOT and Magic Kingdom equally. So, pick what you like best while you still can!

I would vote for BLT...figure the half marathon is just one trip to get to the start....but if you want to do things with the baby, there is more to do in MK that is kid friendly. Now, if you are not doing rides or anything with the baby and just are there for the race weekend, go with the Epcot area's.

But, regardless, you need to book your home resort in advance and not rely on getting a room at those resorts at 7 months, the marathon weekends book up fast.

If you think you'll be spending time at the pool (which could be iffy in January), I'd go with BCV just because there's the sand area that little kids can play in. Also, that's two parks you don't have to worry about strollers and buses, since you can walk to Epcot and MGM (or take the boat, which is still easy to move strollers around on).

hey you can do 2 parks with BLT - Mk and Epcot - both are on the monrail - okay separate monrails and Epcot requires a change at TTC - but definitely 2 parks without buses.

now wish would agree BLT.

it might be too late for BLT - because a bunch of us love that place - but try for it.

I would probably stay at BLT so I could walk to MK with the stroller and ride the monorail to Epcot and restaurants at GF, Poly, and Contemporary. However, if you are planning to spend much more time at Epcot and DS and Boardwalk restaurants, I would stay at BCV or BWV. I used to avoid the buses as much as possible when I used strollers.

Absolutely the monorail options are best for dealing with a sleeping child, the stroller situation, and quick escapes back to the hotel for naps! BLT would be my vote! Good luck!:cheer2:
