BLT - Not 4 Us

Thanks for the review. Staying there does not interest us at all, but I'm sure it will have its following. To me being "close" to a park doesn't mean much when you still have to enter/exit with the masses. BWV & BCV are the only places imo that you get a big benefit from being close to the park due to the private entryway to Epcot via the international gateway. That really makes a huge difference. Thanks again for your report!:thumbsup2

OP- Thank you fro your report. I have been trying to decide if I should try for BLT for our next trip. Like you, I also have two DDs 4 and 6 and I was wondering if we would find it too small.

Just when I am about to scrap the idea of staying there, I change my mind and say I should do it now while my DDs are fairly small. Otherwise we may find it REALLY small later.

I kind of just want to get the BLT stay out of the way. (I want to try them all)
I'm not a big fan of the "contemporary" decor either.

I am hoping I will love the location though.

Thanks again:)

Thank you for your review.

I'm confused. I have heard OKW is the only one with a sink in the bathroom. Is that not the case?

OKW has the sink in the bathroom, but I can tell you that BCV and VWL have the bathroom vanity just outside the bathroom door, but it is a completely separate area from the kitchenette which is across the room from them.

In the HHI studios, the bathroom has a pedestal sink in it. Their kitchenette is around the corner from the rest of the room. It is on your right as you enter the studio. I actually like their set up the best!

Funny we own at AKV and BWV. only booked one night BLT this past August to try it out.

I expected not to really like it. seemed sort of sterile to me. However!!!! My kids particularly my 15 year old declared it his new fave.

I am going back for a few nights in December. so it remains to be seen if I have the same exprience in a studio as a 1 bedroom.

as much as I am hoping to love BLT (it my new home resort) - won't go with 4 people - it is just too small.

now single or couple and you might have liked it better.

really think this is intentional - they took some of the space out of the studio for the 1-bedroom - so DVC is definitely (too me) saying - studio at BLT (and maybe future ones) for singles or couples - and that would be very unfair.

the 1-bedroom which you might have liked - it bigger than all the ones at WDW except OKW.

that say for 4 people in a studio would always stay at OKW - it has 2 queen beds - so it is much nicer for four - my opinion.

We stayed in a BLT studio for 2 nights, then to BWV for 5 nights, than to AKL concierge for 2 nights - all studios. BLT was by far the tightest for our family of 3. Other than the fact that it was close to MK and the monorail BLT did not do too much for us. BWV and AKL were just so much better.

The fact that BLT was locked down (needed a key to get anywhere) did not make for a good disney feel either, and the bathroom sink setup was weird, too.

Just got back from 4 nights in a 1br standard view. I have stayed at the CR at least 4 times, so I knew what to kind of expect. We had a first floor, looking at the marina. It was just myself and 9 year old son. We had more room than we knew what to do with. It was great having the monorail right there, for Epcot and dining at the Poly and GF, but honestly for the MK, we walked over and back. it would be great if they had a private entrance in tomorrowland for visitors from the CR area!!

BLT is not for everyone, to utilize the entire resort, it's alot of walking around. Views from the Top of the World Lounge are amazing, but I felt uncomfortable there with my 9 year old. Very NYC/Miami like. But the staff was very friendly, which is a plus.

Pool area should have been much bigger, with the zero entry, you loose alot of swimming area. They could have used the area between the shuffleboard court and the other court to make the pool bigger.

I will prob stay there again, but VWL is still my fav!!

Last week I bought into the dvc with the special 100 point minimum and 1300 disney gives you package.

I saw the rooms at animal kingdom lodge and blt . I loved animal kingdom much better.

The dvc person stated shes had a couple of northeast people tell her they will take akl over blt because blt reminds them of nyc and they can just go to nyc if they wanted that.

I must say I agree with them. 3 weekends ago i stayed in a hotel in nyc the looked very similiar to blt.

I go to disney to see different things then what I can see at home.

Really? The living area seems smaller to me. Maybe that's because of the island and the large sized table. The whole unit seems smaller to me than the lockoff we had at SSR. And the weird thing is that when we visited DSIL and family at BCV the SSR unit seemed larger than that too. I'll look up the room sizes. :)

BLT is not bad. I could make it better by staying on the first floor with a standard view (Although I like the Bay Lake marina view a lot). I do like the pool area a lot, and love watching EWP from the hot tub.

My dislikes are not having sheers on the windows so I can block out views while letting in light. The bathroom sink (in the master) juts out so far that I can't put on makeup without guessing. I wear glasses, and when I take them off to do makeup (mascara and powder) I can't see 'cause I can't get close enough to the mirror, even when standing on tiptoes. I have to do makeup in the LR bathroom. Third dislike is the DSA's. The DSA's are on the other side of the resort, and they are clumped together right underneath the room balconies in the horseshoe area. The one for the pool is right next to the hot tub. There is no way to smoke at BLT without pissing someone off. :sad2: There are a few spots on the outside ends of the horseshoe where you could put a DSA, and that would make it a bit better I think.

I love the decor and I love the kitchen. The biggest "but" here is that I think I will have to try all of the DVC's before picking a "fav" unless I luck onto one. :)
