Already planning our WDW trip for December 2017 second week. Plan on trying to get BLT. Was wondering if MK view is worth the extra points. Had a lake view before and liked it.

We prefer the lake view. We found we were out too often to watch them and they were loud every night on the late night events. That may not bother you. We enjoyed having coffee in the morning with the lake and could watch the Electric boat parade. It's just a matter of if you think you would be in the room for them.

The daytime view on the Lake Side is nicer. It depends on your party makeup and if you think watching fireworks from the room will happen, versus other times of day, or people who want to sleep.

We like to splurge on nice hotel rooms and I thought I'd go for the theme park view just to check it out. I was blown away by how much of a wow factor it had for everyone in our family. The photo below is taken by the elevators, but the view from our 2-bedroom unit was identical. You don't see Space Mountain here, but looking at that and Cinderella's Castle is more than worth the extra cost in my book.
I had expected that the MK would be too far away to really make an impact, but I was very wrong.

Everyone will have a different opinion. We own there and IMO the TP view isn't worth it. If we want to see the fireworks we go up to TOTWL.

We have done both theme park and lake view. Theme park view is OK from high floors, but you can get stuck on lower floors where it is definitely not worth the points, particularly because your main view is of a parking lot. What you see even from high floors during the day is a parking lot, the Contemporary building, the monorail at fifth floor level from the ground, the dome like Space Mountain, and well in the distance, part of the lake, the front of MK and the castle that looks small from the distance. From theme park rooms looking in the opposite direction, you see the former Discovery Island and a large lake bordered mostly by forest.

We've done MK view and while it was nice it didn't feel worth the point premium. Though over the holidays when the castle is uniquely lit it's a nice view for sure.

If you request even rooms lake view, you'll use less points and have theme park views.

Not everyone can get that view. And many ask for it. You get a view of CR and the marina too with an even number lake view. There is no guarantee with a lake view room you will have a theme park view.

We like the theme park view. And we find we go up to TOTWL less and less for the fireworks as we have as good a view from our own balcony.

And even if all even rooms got MK view, it's still just that: A request. I think we've all gone over the infrequency of getting requests lately several times.

Are all theme park view Grand Villas in good location?

They are all located in the section between the two elevator banks. As happens with all the TPV views some will be more direct of the MK and others will have the MK off to the side. Here's a link to the views from a TPV 2BR (8230) beneath the TPV GV (8430) that would have the least direct view of the MK. Having stayed in a low floor TPV studio in this same area I know that it is a bit different than other more direct MK view rooms that we've also stayed in.

Thanks... I am planning a gals DCLcruise with friends, & thought of a Poly Bungalow or BLT GV for the 1 night before. I think the GV would be the best use of points after reading this. Beds as well as view are also factors!

Here's hoping for 7 month booking.

We stayed in a lake view studio once and the nice CM at check in asked where we wanted to be. She showed us that some of the rooms right by the TPV rooms actually have a pretty decent view of the park too. So, she put us in one of those. We ended up not being in our room for any of the fireworks though. We went to TOTWL and that was pretty awesome to watch the fireworks from there. They pipe in the music too. :)

I don't think TPV is just about fireworks. We thoroughly enjoy sitting and watching the hustle and bustle of the MK. Monorails, ferry boats, trains coming and going. The flash from the camera on Spash. The train going around the park. I could go on and on. You almost feel like your are in the MK while sitting on your balcony.

All things I like too. Some people can't get past the parking lot down below though.

Not even close. I think I calculated that 6% of lake view rooms have good MK views.

6%. That's just silly. the entire North side even all the way back to stairs has MK view and they are all lake view as they do not have a direct view of the MK monorail. Either way, make a request. I always get North side when requested. And If I don't, I'm not really worried. I'm either in bed or not at the hotel for the fireworks anyway. LOL. The kids cant hang that long.

And If you can get a poly bungalow at 7 months, I need to talk to your planner because there is only a handful and a hug percentage of ownership at Poly.

Poly Bungalows are really not that difficult. The point requirements are huge which makes them appealing to a smaller percentage of owners.
