BLT- love it or hate it?

Nice place to visit but don't buy there like we did. BWV is our favorite, can't get enough of the place. :earsboy: Bill
Shame on you Bill! ;) lol I'm a contemporary girl through and through! Sleek lines, hard marble and granite with minimalistic Disney design. It's what drew me in, I LOVE it. Not to mention all the hustle and bustle of people moving through the CR. Maybe I just get to much enjoyment out of people watching. Ha! I bet there's some good people watching on the boardwalk too....

Every person is different, and so are the DVC resorts. :thumbsup2

I changed our 1 night. Had some transferred points that I needed to use up. We'll use our visit to go to Mk, see holiday wishes at totw, & check out the place. Has anyone tried the water sports there? My DS 8 would really enjoy the wave runner rental. We also hope to use the community hall as well. We'll be at bwv in October & March so 1 night away from home should not make us too home sick...lol

Tell us what you think after your trip!

Bill . . . I'd be happy to take those BLT points off your hands . . . :-) I'd trade you my VGF for them!

You are so right that people just like different things- I much prefer BLT to her grand sister on the other side of the monorail (who I do also like)-

Love all DVC resorts for different reasons. All members should try every resort and not rely on other peoples opinions.

I'll tell you my thoughts on BLT. We stayed at CR once and really really enjoyed that so I thought we'd LOVE BLT...and we didn't exactly. Stayed there last Oct for F&W...lake view studio.

What I did like:
1-we had a studio for just DH and I and I liked the layout a lot, with the little galley kitchen where I would get ready in the morning while DH was in the shower.

2-we were right off the skyway bridge and could quick scoot over to CR for the monorial and the CS place

3-loved watching Wishes from TOTWL

4-walking to/from the MK

what I didn't like:
1- was very noisy...noisiest DVC stay ever. Could hear the water pageant thing while we were trying to sleep (around 10pm...us old fogies). Could hear a lot of noise during Wishes and looked to see the skyway bridge full of people and I think the sound was piped in. Could hear the movies under the stars. Just everything bounced right off that building since it's all hard surface and not many trees for buffer. Maybe a better location (not right off skyway bridge and maybe BLT pool view in lake view category or go theme park view)

2- not a fan of the monorail as it's always packed. And it took us close to an hour or even longer to get to/from Epcot with having to get off resort monorail, go down ramp, go up Epcot ramp and get on Epcot monorail...PITA.

3- cost of points...not good for conserving points.

The decor didn't bother us. And it wasn't too busy for us...just noisy and it ate a lot of points...and we LOVE Epcot so need to be able to get there more easily. But it's worth a try once. And, heck, I am sure we will go back sometime but will get TPV when we have points to burn through.

I like the location of BLT but that's about it. The decor made me feel like I was on a business trip. Kids thought it was cool but the perfume smell when you walk in made me feel like I was walking thru the cosmetics section at Macys (where the sales ladies are trying to douse you with the latest designer perfumes!)

We did a two night stay at BLT. Didn't get the Disney vibe, didn't feel like "home". In all fairness we had problems with the room that were not addressed. I feel two nights is not enough time to judge. The first day you are waiting to get your room, the second day you are thinking of packing. We own at OKW and BWV but have tried most of the WDW DVCs,trying to justify point use at VGF. Hoping the Poly doesn't break the bank!

Our home resort is BWV but we decided to try BLT last year in anticipation of future visit with our young granddaughter and proximity to MK.

We stayed in a lake view studio. Things I liked included LOTS of drawer space, galley-type kitchen area which also had lots of counter space and storage. Great for a studio. Ability to walk to MK and across the bridge to Contemporary for food etc. Sitting out on our balcony at night and watching the Electrical water parade.

Thing that annoyed me most was lack of counter space in bathroom and sliding bathroom door. Also studio was a bit smaller than BWV BUT the galley type kitchen area & extra storage more than made up for it.

It was a bit noisy but we anticipated that due to a higher volume of families with small children.

BWV will always have my heart but I would still stay at BLT if the opportunity arises again.

Loving this thread. When BLT first opened I thought there was no way I would ever want to stay there for the reason that some have noted (sterile appearance.) However, now that we're looking to add on points again, we're considering BLT due to the later expiration. (We've had a hard time finding the exact extended 2057 OKW contract we wanted so now we're thinking BLT could suit our needs.) Could anyone elaborate on how a studio has worked with young children in tow? We like to go for better views than bigger rooms. Was a studio actually workable for a family of 4 with little ones?

One of our issues with BLT for us is the lack of views. If you are inside the "C" you have a view of your neighbor across the way and the rooms are a bit smaller. The lake view on the boat dock side is okay but the theme park view is the roof of space mountain, the parking lot, and the castle off in the distance.

Another issue is the dues and TOWL, not knowing what it's future is.

I would rather buy a resort that I love with a shorter expiration date than one that I don't really don't love with a longer expiration date.

When we had a studio at BLT it was just DH and I and was perfect for us. If you have been on a cruise, it is a touch roomier than a cruise cabin but tighter than many other hotel rooms. I have done a cruise cabin with 4 (DH, our twin DDs and I) and so we could deal with a studio at BLT but it would be cramped with 4 (especially now that my 3 kids are teens and 5'8" or taller). The galley-like kitchen is good space and storage (as I mentioned before, I used this area to get ready while DH was in the very small bathroom getting ready). This resort is good for little ones, though, in that you can walk to the MK and you can roll stroller right on/off the monorail. We had lake view, right off the skyway bridge (I'll post pics) and I'd get the other side (inside) of the C if I go with lake view again...or I'd (most likely) get TPV. It was very noisy where we were but very convenient to going over to CR/monorail.
