BLT Lake View GV question

I seem to remember reading a thread from a couple of years ago mentioning that while the BLT lake view grand villas have a door the opens to the 16th floor hallway, the room keys do not open the door from the outside/hallway. With the passage of time and advent of magic bands, does anyone know if this is still true?
