BLT lake view beat MK view hands down IMHO

We just returned from a chilly trip to WDW. We had room 8002 at BLT, a room on the 10th floor, facing away from the pool towards the lake. When we walked into our room the view of the lake took up more than 3/4 of the window (it seemed), just unbelievable with Space Mountain in the other 1/4. When we went out on the balcony we could see the castle. This is the best view I've ever had anywhere I've vacationed - except when on the ship! It was at the end of the hallway too so it was real quiet.

Our friends were also on the 10th floor with a direct MK view of the castle. They could see the Grand Floridian which was nice along with the lake and Contemporary and monorail, but they had lots of parking lot and traffic in their view. Ours was very tranquil.

Since we had nine people staying in the room the size of the 2 bd was comfortable. The extra bath was a great idea.

We loved watching the fireworks from the 16 floor. I can't wait to go back!

We agree! MK view is unfortunately also a major parking lot view. Bay Lake view has bonus of pool (we would check the crowd level) and the electric water parade at night.

We've always loved the Contemporary Resort with it's location on the largest and most beautiful lake at WDW. Walking to the MK and riding the monorail is always been a bonus.

We stayed in 8102 last fall, just one floor above you, and I agree wholeheartedly. I would much rather have a lake view than use more points for a glorified parking lot view!

We had a lake view room too when we went in Nov and were really happy with it. The TOWL was fine for us to view the fireworks. It was really nice to watch them without having to worry about making a beeline for the exit as soon as it ended. BLT/CR is just an unbeatable location. So glad we added another contract there.

I was at BLT last week and also on the 10th floor, studio 8040 at the opposite end of the corridor from OP, with a lake view overlooking the boat docks which I enjoyed very much.
Unfortunately that was one of the few things I enjoyed about BLT.
Studio was very small, 4 people in a studio would be 2 to many. IMO
Unlockable sliding bathroom door was a bad idea, if they had to have a sliding door a pocket door would have been much more practical and lockable.
The kitchenette/vanity area is a total disaster, I can't figure out what they were thinking if they thought that was a good plan. If you never stay in a studio your lucky.
Went up to TOTW lounge a couple of nights, seemed crazy to have to go from the 10th floor to the first floor to check in at the desk then be escorted to the elevator to go to the 16th floor.
Based on the number of people there on the nights I was there, it won't last long as a BLT guest only place. Even the bartender agreed that it may need to be opened to all DVC members to at least keep it as a DVC exclusive perk.

We stayed in a 1BR and found it quite spacious. The sliding unlockable 2nd bathroom door was not an issue for our family. We actually loved the fact that we had a 2nd full bathroom in a 1BR (but see how this could be an issue for others). Also agree that the TOWL was greatly under-utilized. It was practically empty when we went too. Still, that was fine by me. It was pretty cool having the place to ourself.

I'm looking forward to booking our first stay at BLT hopefully soon and I've always thought the lakewiew rooms sounded more appealing that overlooking MK. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the MK view rooms are great, but something about looking out at the tranquil lake and not seeing the hustle bustle of people entering/leaving MK sounds great to me!:thumbsup2

I totally agree about the lake view rooms. Ours was lovely, even from the second floor. Straight ahead we had Bay Lake and we had a clear view of Space Mountain and Wishes to the Left. I don't know that I would ever choose an MK view--too much parking lot.

TOWL was also deserted when we were there. More irritating for me was that they had cordoned off the edge of the open air balcony. You could no longer go right up to the ledge and look out or take pictures--they had ropes blocking it about 3 feet back and my DH got yelled at by the security guard for going in front of them.

Given that, I don't think I'll bother to go up there again.

Totally agree! We just returned from a week long stay in a studio. room 8437 and really liked the view. My initial requests were higher floor, even numbered and on north end. The more i saw pics and thought about it, i wanted to change my requests to inner crescent (odd number) We loved it. Didn't bother us that we could also see across to other rooms. Loved being able to look out at lake and down to pool area. There were 4 of us and i was worried about the space but it was fine. Loved the TOTW lounge. We went up there about 3 times while we were there. haven't had an MK view and don't think i ever will. I like the inner crescent.

We were in 8230 last month. MK view. NOT! :lmao: Really, we called it loading dock view. Won't be wasting points for MK view again.

We also had a lake view and loved it. The boats on Bay Lake are my very favorite part of WDW. However, even better, was the view we had of the little boy on the south side jumping on the master bedroom bed :yay: while mom and dad were enjoying themselves in the living room. :rolleyes1 That was the best entertainment we had all evening!!
