BLT Interior Decorating

I like it a lot. It is totally different from my home, but then that is what I want in my vacation, something different from home.

Our guide said the square footage is the same as at AKL, but I don't think she specified Jambo or Kidani. I would *think* Kidani, since the one-bedrooms have the two bathrooms, but I don't know for sure.

Yes, that's it exactly! ::yes::

Dh and I were skeptical about BLT 'til we saw the photos today. We think it's fun, kind of like the pre-remodeled rooms. And it's got that all-important real estate must-have: location, location, location!

We did an add-on this afternoon. :thumbsup2

I'm not in the market as I'm going to try and buy VGC but I do like the decor. It reminds me of a "W" hotel. I am from the Pacific NW and thus sooooo over the VWL look and also craftsman style. And then I have sort of a french country look going on at home. So this looks fresh and clean to me. I esp like the color palatte and the fact that it is strongly themed. I like that it doesnt' look like every other vacation condo out there. It feels very fancy schmancy and upscale to me.

I saw some more pictures of the lobby and I think that looks nice.

My other big issue, is that it doesn't seem that comfortable. Especially the single chairs - I couldn't flop down on one of those after a long day in the parks. It reminds me a bit of Nuni and Nooni's condo on SNL

Stupid Castle and Wishes kept drawing my attention from the low light and decor. Will have to watch again and cover that area with my hand I guess.

Is it me or do the rooms seem a LOT smaller. The studio reminds me of a cruise cabin. I also thought the master bedroom looked small too. Does anyone the square footage?

I thought that too. The studio reminded me of a New York City hotel room (tiny).

I wasn't wild about the glimpses in the utube thing but Clotho posted a great link from disney.com. I now think it's beautiful....and I'm not a modern furniture fan for the most part.

edited to add Clotho's link:http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/miniSi...=BLTWEBRF&CMP=OTC-FY09DVCCBLTProVanity&bhcp=1

I have to admit, I was feeling the same way until I saw it on dvc.com. I still don't know if I love it, but I definitely think it is more attractive than the pictures I saw before!

Showed the video to my hubby last night on the off chance he might like it and he thought it was a gag reel. :happytv:

Seriously, I was hard pressed to convince him it was for real. Had to show him the 360 and pics. I actually found myself in the positon of defending and explaining even though I don't care for it at all. It was kind of comical.:lmao:

Ok folks...nothing wrong with the 70's!! Course, I think the 80's are the best!! :thumbsup2

Odd , I don't like the contemp, but I thought this looked interesting enough to consider buying there for sure staying there at least once

the pool area with those trees things looked interesting.

I like modern crisp lines and clean edges. However, I don't like chrome. I don't like Orange and Avacado (especially together). My parents use to have avacado appliances and orange wall paper in the kitchen.... it was hideous.

I do like avacado on my tortilla chips though :)

Am I the only one who thinks the BLT interior design is awful? It reminds me of an IKEA showroom. While, yes, the location is great, the rooms are not appealing to me at all. The furniture looks cheap and uncomfortable. As my DH said "It's 70's Futuristic" --- as if they went back to the original contemporary design of 1971.

I actually agree.

Instead of going with the newer look in the refurbed rooms at the Contemp, they seemingly went with a combination of that and the 70's retro Contemp.

I'm on the fence about them....

It won't stop us from buying in...this add on (when/if we do it) is to cover our OOP hotel stays that we do for the first couple days....days we usually spend at MK.

They made significant changes to the AKV rooms, even after the models opened. It'll be interesting to see if they do the same with BLT.

I am not liking it at all and it really is making me rethink an add-on there. The location is great but I really don't think I would feel "at home" in that decor. My youngest DD - she would love it though. :lmao:

Never did like the CR decor.....for some reason I thought I would love BLT.
I don't.....won't stop me from staying there if i can get in;)

From watching the video yesterday, I didn't like the style of furniture or the color scheme at all. I much prefer softer and more muted tones! I don't like contemporary style of design, so the rooms were a disappointment for me. It would never keep me from booking a room at some point in the future, but it's not my cup of tea. But I guess a contemporary resort room would look a little strange with country style decor inside! :rotfl2:

I just don't like the decor at all. Reminds me of some high-rise beach condo you see everywhere on the coasts of Florida.
I was really hoping it was going to be outstanding - but now, it's just blah

I don't even think I will ever go out of my way to stay there. There are so many other beautiful resorts to choose from... for me BLT will be my last choice.

I love the duvet although not the color of the throw. Love the blues used throughout and think they will play well with the water views.

Love the under and over cabinet lights. Love the pullout pantry.

Love, love, love the island instead of the "L" shape in BCV, BWV and VWL.

It appears that there is much more seating at the table. Like that the surface of that seating appears to be washable.

Intrigued by the Space Mountain montage as well as the character picture above the master bed. I'm looking forward to seeing them.

I like contemporary style, but with a sort of eclectic touch. That is how I decorate my house.

I love reading decorating magazines and now that we are spending a couple of years in Spain I'm loading up with european design magazines with ideas of what I want to do in my house next.

That said, I think the decoration of the rooms is ok, but not impressive.
It goes with the current trends (dark woods, glass, porcelain tiles, stainless steel, greens and blues combined with neutral colors), but it seems to be lacking a little bit of WOW.

The regular rooms at the CR tower look more what I would wanted to see on the BLT.

The rooms do look a lot smaller than any other DVC room. The night table in the studio is the smallest one I have ever seen, I don't see how someone can get on the bed on that side when the sofa is pulled open.

I would love to stay at BLT just because of the location, but I won't rush myself into buying there. I was thinking next fall, if they are still selling, or else I will buy a small contract on resale.

And for those of you that think that the design looks like something from the 70's, remember that only 3 years ago the rooms at the CR looked like the jetsons house, with tons of bright colors and geometrical shapes :hippie:
I guess in ten years they will change the decor to match the 80's if they keep following the trends

I hope they will add extra touches to the rooms in order to keep it themed, since there is really no special theme on just being "contemporary".
But for what they showed in the dvc website, adding some mickey artwork here and there can help remind us that we are still on a special WDW property.

I definitely think they have gotten far far away from the "home away from home" feel that DVC's were categorized in the past.
I hated the peeks from the DeeVeeCee video, and love the 360 views. It makes me feel like it is a 3.5 star city hotel, and thats what I expected. The location makes it a 4 star.
I like AKVs decor better, but it is miles ahead of Grandma's beach house decor @BCV.

I agree that it looks like a city hotel, but that is exactly what I don't like about it. It's trite! Nothing new, different or true to a real theme here. It does remind me a bit of I Love Lucy's house though. It really just left me feeling very cold and impersonal. Oh well, I don't much care for the location (MK is the park I go to the least) or the style, so I wont have to worry about ever staying there.

As for the "dark" look. I don't care for that at AKV either, but at least it fits the African safari theme of the decor. At BLT, I would expect lots of light in a modern decor.
