BLT - Fireworks Observation Deck

It will be better - they had too many BLT members all trying to call in at once.

that will not happen again.

plus Ms was short handled - it was a Sunday.

that doesn't mean another situation would happen - DVC waits until member start to complaint before adding on to MS.
THis is better for you. MS expenses come out of our fees.

just remember to call at 11 months at 9:00am eastern time and I bet you next time you will get your MK view.

My (jaded) guess....is that it will be a BLT/DVC exclusive only until the resort is sold out.

expecting it to stay that way even after sold out. the MK view is pretty wonderful so don't see it getting old and BLT members wanting something for at least 5 years.

I just had my meeting with my saleperson last week. We were told the observation deck ontop of BLT was EXCLUSIVE for DVC members. Normal guests from what we were told can not even get over to the BLT without a card. We were told the pool, the observation deck, and the rooms were all DVC exclusives and "regular guests" could not get over to the BLT without a room key.

We all know that what we are told today, can change tomorrow, especially with Disney.

We can all guess at what Disney will do, but no body knows for sure. You did notice that it is called a MK view, not a fireworks view. What if they cut back on the fireworks. Shorter performances, skip certain nights, weekends only. Who knows what will happen in the future.

wishes is expensive - heard that disney had already tried to cut back on the fireworks for this thing and got complaints.

so the next thing is have it on less nights.

if you have ever had a MK view at CR - think most of us will be very happy seeing the castle last thing at night and first thing in the morning.
well you will see space mountan first.

As long as I can get a some kind of studio @ BLT when I call @ 11 months for the dates I want I'm happy.

Better view would be nice and I think I'll always TRY for a MK view, but I can't imagine being truly 'unhappy' with any room. I've had great trips staying in a standard view value resort. ANY room @ BLT has to be an upgrade from that! Even better, by my math ((purchase / points / contract's years) + dues...) my 98 LV studio in Nov./Dec. is going to cost me less than rack rate for the same nights in a preferred location value room (I quoted All Star Sports on the web). MK view probably would be close in cost. FYI, we stayed in a preferred location room @ All-Star Movies in Oct. 2008 with a AAA discount. The BLT room SURE beats saving a few $ from a AAA discount in my book! What matters to me is being on vacation and my favorite spot is on-property at Disney. Yes, I liked concierge level @ Grand Californian room (Nov. 2008) better than the value @ WDW. But I loved both trips and bottom line, my wife and I had fun together.

All speculation of course, but what a guide told us was that the outside observation deck would most likely be available for DVC members, however the lounge was anyones guess. Sounds like that may be close to the truth.

our first visit to blt will be with an mk view:cool1: and after that we will know whether or not we really need an mk view or if there are other locations in the building that you can go to see the fireworks. :thumbsup2 once we know about that we may find that all other views will be just as good, after all they all have access to the monorail.:woohoo:

BLT guide told us last week that the rooftop will be for DVC members staying on site at BLT only and that they have yet to make a decision if they will limit the number of nights you can make a reservation

Did they tell you when you could starting making Fireworks deck reservations?

I was really concerned about this when making my Cali Grill ressie's. Some nights, Wishes is at 10p, some at 9p. What if the fireworks are only like 3 or 4 times a week? That would also impact the restaraunts like Cali Grill and Narcosee's.

Re the other thread, on what Guides and the dudes at the Infobooths say. Officially they never have to ever let a DVC member up there EVER. That bit does not belong to DVD/DVC, that is what my contract for BLT says. So regardless of what they tell you, we could get to use the first month it's open, or in 10 years or never.

Infact even the promo material says something to the effect of "the viewing platform is not part of the property which is being sold, and you should not buy based on it's availability to be used by members."

The guides (I believe, for the most part), try to be truthful and give us the best information they have at any given instant in time. My guide has told me, posted previously in this thread, what the circumstances are for usage of the observation deck based on what he knows. I believe him.

Ultimately, the answer comes on August 1. I believe DVC members staying at BLT will have access to the observation deck based on the criteria my guide laid out for me.

The clause in the contract gives Disney the right to do what they want at any time they want (ie: CHANGE). While I believe your interpretation of the contract has the best of intentions, neither does that clause explicitly state that the observation deck cannot and will not be used by DVC.

Fortunately, for you, given the stance you have taken, you will never be right or wrong. If we have it day one and it gets taken away 5 years from now, you were right. If we don't have it day one and do get it in 5 years, you'll be right. If we never have access, we'll know when the contracts on BLT expire and not a day before. Since this stance basically helps noone with a clearer understanding of what may or may not happen August 1 (and you are NOT the first in this thread to take a similar stance so I'm not personalizing this towards you but rather at all who have posted similar responses), I'm going to defer to the expert I know: my guide. He's NEVER led me astray before and it's in his best interest not to and he was atimate in his statement of what will materialize. See my previous post in this thread for what I believe will happen. :)

well i guess that just about sums it up. we may and we may not!!!;)

oh well, i am sure that i will love blt anyway.:goodvibes
