BLT Buy Ins

I was just made aware of the following information. Contrary to prior reports, the buy in for BLT for New Members will remain at 160 points and will not be increased to 200 on January 15.

The add ons for Existing Members at BLT, however, will still be increasing to 100 points on January 15.

This should help some folks who are interested in purchasing for the first time, but maybe need a bit more time. So if you are getting a tax refund, you can now go ahead and make the plunge by purchasing at BLT and becoming DVC Members with 160 points!!

I wonder if any of this relates to what the per point and buy in amount will be for VGC. I hope they keep those low, expecially given the small # of units...we should know soon. Maybe they were planning on upping BLT to focus on VGC on Jan 25, but now with the economy, higher buy ins doesn't make sense.

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with VGC, January 25 is the date that only members who bought into DVC at DL may purchase VGC it would be a poor move on Disneys part to focus on such a small group of people considering the guides who will be selling during the first 2 months all work in California. There is also the possibility that they were Never going to raise the initial points buy in but that a rumor started and took off like wildfire.

Hmm. guess we have more time to decide to buy BLT - I met with a DVC rep at the Contemporary on Dec 20th and he said the minimum buy-in was going up to 200 in Janaury, I'll have to call and confirm.

I recently received something in the mail about being able to add 25 pts of BLT for current members and after jan 15, minimum will be 100 points @ $112. Is the 25 point offer for current DVC members or BLT members. I'm a SSR owner, can i add on BLT 25 pts.

You may add-on points at BLT until Jan 14 2009 at 25 pts minimum even if you don't presently own BLT points; you can own your points at any other DVC resort. Our points are all OKW and we received by mail from DVC just couple weeks ago the following info :

My guide told me yesterday that pricing for all resorts will go up to $112 on Jan 15. My assumption was that it was for all resorts, didn't think to ask if that was only for 'open' resorts (BLT, AKV, SSR/THV) or if that also included the remaining 'closed' resorts... Does anyone know?

I wanted to take up on that offer for 25 pts, but what can you do with 25 pts. Why would they even offer that? The most you can use is total of 75- so what's the point of them offering that amount?

It doesn't sound like a whole lot to work with but it will get the job done for the DVC owners that are really only interested in a night or two or maybe three over at BLT every year or every second or third year. The small add-on gives them the ability to do this and reserve at the 11 month booking window instead of waiting until 7 months (or less) window when every other non-BLT owner maybe also trying to reserve at BLT.

With banking and banking&borrowing 25 points can be 50 points to use every other year or 75 points every third year.

An outstanding question is whether the new booking policy will impact the purchase power of those small contracts. It might be harder for someone to book a night or two during peak times, as those nights will already be booked up by those staying more nights....
