BLT Advice

Thanks for the advice on rooms! I’m having trouble figuring out the lay of the land. I understand that the even number rooms may get a fireworks view, but do they also look over the parking lot? I hate looking at cars and parking lots from my balcony. If we requests odd numbers, are we more likely to get a pool, garden, greenery view?

If you are in a standard view room, you either get to see courtyard (odd numbered, low floors), palm trees (odd numbered, floors 4&5), or parking lot with MK beyond (even numbered). If you're in a Lake view room, you get to see Lake/pool/courtyard (odd numbered), Lake with Wilderness Lodge beyond (South side, even numbered), or Lake/Tomorrowland/Castle by leaning out (North side, even numbered). In a Theme park room, you're in an even numbered room looking directly at the Castle.

We stayed at BLT for the first time in 2019. We loved it. The busses were a little bit of a pain (especially since I’m in a wc), but we loved the monorail. The room (we stayed in a studio) was nice. I would stay there again.

I would definitely keep the BLT reservation. 🤩 I love Bay Lake!! Not only is the extra bath & bigger kitchen area a huge plus at BLT with a large crowd, but the “unusual” bathroom setup at BCV (and similar @BWV) is just odd… and an actual negative. My girls hated that you couldn’t lock the door to the shower 1/2 of the bathroom (the lock was on the other side).

(Just FYI- I do love BCV too, and if you were comparing studios, I would likely suggest BCV… but in this case I think it’s a pretty easy BLT win. The only DVC room -in my opinion- that could beat a BLT 2-bedroom on Crescent Lake would be a BWV GV).

Also, when staying standard view at BLT, my absolute first choice is ground floor/landscaping view every time. I’m normally a highest-floor kinda person, so if I’m staying lake view you’ll find me at the top 😉 but the convenience of not requiring elevators to get to/from MK makes a big difference (to me) and I love it!! 😍

Most hotels use a company called scentair that will manufacture a custom scent for your property that is distributed using big cartridges with fans to pipe it in. BLT has a distinct “sea” type smell in the lobby. It used to be much stronger than it is now. The RIV resort has a horrible cloying floral smell that gives me a headache. I actually complained to my DVC guide about it, as a smell allergy is a thing and florals set it off for me. VB has an orange blossom scent that’s it’s very floral and not like oranges, I couldn’t visit that lobby either.

When I went on the RIV tour, they said you could buy it. That was a lie as far as I can tell. I like BC's best.

You can definitely buy it. I got the Westin white tea smell for our office from the Westin at home website. Here the corporate site.

RIV is definitely not using the Westin scents. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've never seen RIV for sale. I don't think it smells that great anyway, so I wouldn't be buying it. If I'm going for RIV's theme of generic hotel lobby, it's hard to beat the Westin one. That one you can buy on the Westin site.

I agree they are definitely not using the Westin scent but probably the same company. I absolutely hate the RIV scent it makes me nauseous and have a violent headache. It smells like may grandma’s flowery perfume 🤣. It should be interesting when we stay there in November I will be avoiding the lobby like the plague, I love the rooms though.

Love BLT.. you almost don’t need to worry about having a view because the architecture offers so many views everytime you exit the elevator or walk across the bridge to monorail. Every floor and every where you walk you will have a view… And it might be a sunrise or sunset or thunderstorm or the early morning and late night boat activity plus the pure joy of the Electrical Water Pageant nightly… keep Your reservation at BLT.

So many underrated things about BLT starting with the decor. High on my list is taking the boats to the Wilderness Lodge and to Ft Wilderness Campground. Ft Wilderness has the best breakfast buffet next to Boma, and the best when you take the cost into account.

I am with HappyDisneyWife, I always want high floor but at BLT, we love the ground level. Walk to the pool, walk the park, walk to the busses with no wait on an elevator. Hopefully by the time you return, Top of the World will be back in full swing! We love going up to grab some drinks/snacks and watching fireworks! TotW is such a benefit and will always impress folks.
