Plans are not definite, but we may be going to WDW with DD, DSIL and the grandchildren (4 and 2).

We own at BWV, but would like to stay at BLT for the location since MK will be the main interest.

When booking at the 7 month (or less) window, what are the chances of getting a standard view villa? At BWV, standard views go first -- is it the same at BLT?

Thanks

The standard view rooms go quickly, as they require the least points. We have only been able to secure one once at our 11 month window (but then we had to change our dates so we never actually stayed in one). A lot will depend on when you plan on going. Good luck.

I own at BWV and just switched our standard view BW ressie to a lake view one at BLT. I called at 7 months exactly and the standard rooms were gone for our week (one bedroom in May).

Thanks -- we're thinking of May, but waiting to hear from DD. Sometimes it's like herding cats!!

I thought standard view at BLT would probably go quickly, like at BWV -- it' a great way to save points. Now I know we'll need to look at the other categories when we calculate points. If there is a standard view available, it will be a happy surprise.

We booked for April 2012 at 7 month and wanted Lake View 1BR and got it. I asked about the other views for curiosity, and they had a few MK views left, and no standard views. As mentioned, some people are having problems getting standard view at the 11 month window, I think getting it at 7 is impossible unless you really luck out and get it just when someone else cancelled to move somewhere else at the 7 month window. (And before the waitlists kick in, which is unclear how that works.)

When I called to book a studio at BLT April 28-May 1 a few days after my 7 month window I was surprised that all 3 views were available in a studio....so I guess you never know

BLT is our home resort and we've not been able to secure a standard view on either of our ressies there. Lake View is by far the largest proportion of rooms so these will be easiest to get at 7 months. This summer we had an awesome lake view 2 bedroom with a view over MK.

It really depends on what the BLT owners are doing. Also keep in mind that BLT owners might make a move at the 7 month mark too. So you might call exactly at 9:00 EST and the BLT owner doesn't call until the 7 month mark plus a couple of days and then does the switch.

So if you can't get the BLT Std view, wait list for it, it might come through when the BLT owner switches.

We are BLT owners that made than a reservation for a standard view and then switched at the 7 month mark to SSR for next April. By switching we were able to get a full week at SSR when we only had the points for 6 nights at BLT, standard view using the same number of points.

We've had wait list come through more than once in a day or two after the seven month mark and I think it's because the resort owners made a switch of their own.

Thanks everyone. Good to know that lake view has the largest number of rooms available. I will definitely go on the wait list for standard, but would be happy with lake view. Since it's the first trip for the grandchildren, we really want to be close to the MK so we don't have to spend a lot of time on buses.

Still not definite that we're going, but thanks to all of you I have a much better idea of what to expect and can plan accordingly. Thanks so much.

I always book BLT at 11 months out and then switch at 7, if it works out . I have always booked a studio SV. :thumbsup2

ohhh, so did we! We had what I think was the "last" lake view room. It looked like the room next to our room would have been considered MK View (although no one was in it for the full week).

We had a view of the castle, the parking lot, saw Wishes and I do believe I saw Tink.
We loved going to ToTW for drinks before dinner and also took our older 2 teens.
We are going back end of August next year and although I made my ressie at SSR, at 7 months my mother and I want BLT for 3 nights to use the monorails for dinner and ToTW and then move to BWV or BCV for 5 nights when my son and dh come..my dd will be off to college and not coming with us :sad1:

Just booked BLT, 2 bedroom lockoff lakeview for June 10-18th no problem..so, plenty of lakeview rooms available for june.

I believe standard is about 10% and like mentioned, the chances of getting one at the 7 month window is slim. I own a small contract at BLT just to book the standard view. I knew there would be no chance of getting the standard view at the 7 month window and since points are high at BLT, that's my only option. I too have seen members not get the standard view at the 11 month WINDOW. Getting lakeview is the easiest, so OP you should plan on lakeview, but you can always WL for standard.

What's the chances of getting a MK view studio booking 7 months out for a mid September trip?

I booked a weekend stay for March at six months out. MS said all the MK view studios were gone, but both lake view and standard were available. I think it is all about time of year.

We tried to book st studio for that week before the 7 mo mark, but there was only one left and it wasn't available Wednesday night. We didn't want to take the chance of having no room mid week. The shorter time frame is what made the difference for you this time.

Wanted to update this...

Called yesterday to see if a 2 bedroom lake view was available for the first week of May. There was availability except for one day in the middle of the reservation. So we booked at Wilderness Lodge and are waitlisted for Bay Lake. The cast member was encouraging that the wait list had a good chance of coming through. Even if it doesn't, we'll be happy at Wilderness Lodge and watching our grandchildren (4 and 2) get their first peek at WDW..... as they say in the ad.... priceless.

VWL was the first place our DGC stayed. They were 1,2 and 3...we went back there for many more times before we ventured into other DVCs. It's still our DGS's favorite, he's now 7 (he was 2 the first time). We've booked them into the WL for just one night soon, so we all can get a bit of that VWL feeling back!

I'm considering buying a resale SSR. My wife love's BLT but I don't want to pay the extra per point cost. Personally, I like all the places we've stayed. The monorail is nice, but not a must for me like it is for her. My question is, how difficult is it to get a studio SV or LV at the 7 month mark for early November times, and July?
