We stayed in a 2 br Lake View at BLT and only had a sliver of a view of Bay Lake. The rest of the view was obscured by trees and bamboo. Don’t think I would call it a Lake View room. I think a few years back we had a standard view room with better views than this.

Anyone else had a room like this? Has anyone contacted DVC and if so, what did they say?

I thought 4th floor and down were all standard view? I could be wrong. Were you charged for lake view points.

We were charged the points for a lake view. It was an even number room on the inside of the horseshoe.

Every time that has happened to me I have contacted guest services and they have adjusted my points to what a standard view would have cost. I would give them a shout.

We were once on the inside of the horseshoe almost entirely at one end of it, and looking straight on all you'd see was the other side of the building. Had to turn 90 degrees to look at the lake. Also was deemed "lake view", and we got this even after I'd put in a request to be on the other side of the building (North tower even number or whatever everyone says to do to get a peek at the MK - can't recall it exactly now)

Later this month we have a TPV 2bdr, and our experiences with room requests are such that I'm sort of dreading check-in. Just have a feeling we'll end up on the 5th floor taking in lots of parking lot after spending all of those points

See room maps here for location of lake views https://www.disboards.com/threads/b...nks-last-update-of-post-1-10-21-2015.2257082/ (the third and fourth of the four maps). There are a number of them on the third floor. That, of course, does not prevent you from expressing your concerns to DVC over your particular or similar rooms. As we are aware, a number of lower level theme park rooms were converted to standard several years ago after many complaints.

There have been a couple of reports of people in TPV being placed in rooms that had to have been converted to the standard room. There were only so many they had to choose from and though they wouldn't state exactly which ones they were changing as far as I've been able to find there were only so many to choose from. And people seem to get stonewalled on what rooms are in what views unlike at other resorts.

Is there some trick used by people in the know to end up on a nice high floor? I put in my "upper floor" request but I assume so did everybody else

Don't know any real tricks. When I stay there I always ask for high floor in Lake View. I do not make any other requests and thus far I have gotten 9th floor and above.
