We are booked for the end of August in a 1BR std view at BLT. Just curious if anyone has stayed in one and regretted not using the extra points to upgrade for a better view? This will be our first trip home:)

I have not actually stayed in one. However, it does seem that there are no bad views at BLT. Most of the standard views are garden/water views, views of the pool/fountain, and a few are even low-floor MK views. I do believe that there are a few that overlook the service areas of the building... so there would be a truck ramp, maybe a dumpster or two, but these would be below your field of view and you wouldn't see them unless you were looking down. Your view in those situations would be mostly lake view.

The pictures I have seen of "standard view" at BLT have been wonderful views.

Standard view rooms are also on the ground floor. IMHO BLT is all about a higher floor view, either BL or MK. Who wants a view of the bushes on the ground floor?

Regret may be too harsh of a word. We had a 1BR standard view on the 1st floor and would have preferred not to be on the ground level. We weren't able to keep the curtains open like we normally do when people were walking by all the time not too far away - and could see in the room easily. I mentioned to DW that I wouldn't be upset on future visits if there were no standard views available so we would be forced into a lake view, which is what happened for our August trip.

We also recently added on points. So I don't know that I'll feel as miserly about saving the points with a standard view in the future when it's available.

We booked a BLT 1 bedroom SV for our stay last Dec. I have booked a LV for our trip Jan 2011 (first booked a MK view, and then thought about it and switched to a LV).

We were on the 3rd floor with our SV, and we were facing the pool. DH hated it. I won't say I loved it, but I wasn't thrilled. The issue with the interior rooms (facing the pool) is that when you're on the lower levels, the afternoon party at the pool (which happens every day) is VERY LOUD. We were back in the room every afternoon for DS's nap (and DH likes his nap sometimes too). We had a bit of trouble getting DS to nap with the pool party starting (and yes, all the windows/doors were closed).

So, I'm all for saving points (we also own at BWV and love to save points and book SV there), but I've learned that for BLT, I won't take the risk of having a pool side room again. I'll book LV.

This is one of the reasons we spent the extra 9 points for our 3 nights in August to go from SV to LV. We wouldn't mind the view, but did not want to be 1st floor so figured it was worth it in the long run.

We did stay in a SV studio in December, but it was just DD and myself for 2 nights. We knew we would not be spending a ton of time in the room as it was a quick trip so I didn't worry.

Just spent 4 nights in a BLT SV, ground floor (which I requested) studio (which was next door to a one-bedroom)...

True; walkers-by had a great view into my room (or I did when I was out sitting on the little beach next to the boat dock)...but I loved it...my direct view was of the boat dock/beach...but if I walked outside onto the patio (or across the grass to the walkway), I had the most amazing view of the MK fireworks, and the Electric Water Pageant...I LOVED not having to go thru corridors or up and down stairs (or in elevators) to get outside...plus, the outside movie each night was just across the way, too...

You can't lock your room when you leave thru the patio doors, of course...so when I was going to be gone for a while or to a spot out of my sightlines, I locked up (and closed curtains) and exited thru door and corridor...but I sure did enjoy being able to just step out thru the patio door to sit on beach or bench outside to watch the electric water pageant and Wishes...not to mention just "sitting and contemplating."

So...different strokes for different folks...I loved my room, my view, and being on the ground floor...

We stayed in a 1BR std view. It was on the first floor with a view of the Tempo Fountain and vegetation.

We stayed in a 2BR std view which was on the 2nd floor--view of Tempo Fountain and vegetation.

We stayed in a studio MK view--on the 4th floor view mainly of parking lot with MK in the background. Parking lot lights dominated the view at night.

We stayed in a studio "lake view" on the 4th floor (it was almost exactly two floors above our 2BR std view). We found very little difference between the view on the 2nd floor and the 4th floor. The view of the lake was mostly obscured by vegetation and building.

Long story short, I was more disappointed by the other views than I was by the std view. :confused3

Do you remember your room number? That sounds lovely!

We are going down for our very first DVC trip next week and have a 1BR STD View at BLT.

I'll let you know if we regret not popping for the extra points to have a MK view. But like the other posters here, the only way I would even be marginally annoyed was if I was on the ground level.

I had a 1BR SV room and I loved it. My only complaint was that there were no window sheers. When I was packing (and running around getting ready), I had to keep the curtains closed. I have since spoke with Members Services and there are aware of the complaint. I hope they do something to fixt that.

Other than the sheers, I liked having the ground floor room and wish I had someone with me since the bocce ball courts were right outside my room. I would have loved to be able to sit on my patio and play bocce ball.

would instead ask for only the outside rooms of the C - not the inside ones.and highest floor possible.

the standard views only go to 5th floor (and then if the tree or something is in the way) - those other views are LV.

so not sure a lv would help you.
